Perhaps you are dealing with the transit Pluto square Pluto yourself, you heard about it and now you are informing yourself on what it means for you. I first deal with the technical details. What is an aspect and what is Pluto, that kind of thing. The second part is about what Pluto square Pluto can do in the natal chart of people like you and me. If you already know that you are having this transit, you can skip the first part. The third part is an invitation to share your Pluto square Pluto story.
Technical Part
To understand Pluto square Pluto we first need to look at what is a square aspect? Apparently a square is an aspect. But what is an aspect? An aspect is the distance measured between two planets when they are in a circle. The circle holds 360 degrees. A square is the aspect of 90 degrees. Often referred to as a hard aspect, since there is friction between two planets at this angle. Friction can be solved by using the energy wisely. Use it, work it and deal with it until it is over and done with.
The planet Pluto square Pluto taken literally is Pluto 90 degrees apart from Pluto. When does that happen? Suppose you have your natal chart before you. First look for Pluto’s glyphs or symbols. There is two different symbols that you might have in your chart. The first symbol is a monogram of the letters P and L. The other one looks like a human.
Now you need to find out what sign Pluto is in. Look at the outermost circle of your natal chart and look for the symbols of the signs of the zodiac, the Sun Signs as they are also called. Pluto will probably be in Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio or Sagittarius, for people born in the last 100 years or so. Look for the other info that is with the symbol, some information that looks like 28 (Virgo symbol) 24.
If your transit of Pluto square Natal Pluto is about to happen, it needs to be 90 degrees apart or almost 90 degrees apart from the position it had at the time of birth. How do you measure this? Find out what the position for Pluto is today [January 28th 2006 it is almost 28 degrees Sagittarius]. You can look it up at the front page of http://www.astro.com under the heading Current planets. For Pluto to make a square you diminish it with 90 degrees, and you will come back to the position of Pluto at your time of birth. So in this case that would have to be around 29 degrees Virgo to make an exact aspect of 90 degrees.
When is Your Pluto Square Pluto?

Personal Part
What is Pluto? It is one of several planets that you can find in your birth chart. It is a planet that is relatively far away from planet Earth and it takes 248 years for Pluto to make one turn around the 12 signs of the zodiac. It is a slow planet, and it might even be the slowest that astrologers use.
Interpretations of Pluto are several. Most well known are Steven Forrest and Jeff Green, also sometimes lovingly called the Pluto-brothers. They both wrote a book about the planet Pluto. Jeff Green says: ‘ I would agree that Pluto represents the biggest wound, in the sense that the soul has been wounded ever since it had a patriarchal transition and experienced the progressive suppression of Natural Law. Any time we have anything natural which is suppressed, it’s going to become the basis of distortion and rage and wounds, because now the soul is being asked to live in violation of Natural Law. So, of course, Pluto’s going to connect with a deep wound. But then the question becomes: “What is that wound connected to?” And my answer would be “the soul.” This quote is from an interview that originally appeared in the mountain astrologer. You can read it here on the internet.
What does Pluto square Pluto mean to you? In general this planet is also called the great transformer. Or the shadow part of you. It is a symbol for many different things. It breaks down structures, removes the old to make room for the new. It could entail drastic changes, inner turmoil, anything to do with dreams, fears, or leftovers from our past. When it appears in an aspect of 90 degrees with itself in the natal chart, all of these things might happen. How that will happen depends on the sign and the house Pluto is in your natal chart. And all the other aspects that it involves. I wrote a post on Pluto in the houses and transiting in the houses.
It could be an intense time where emotions get out that you have not noticed before. It is hard to ignore that something out of the ordinary is happening to you. The messages that you get can hardly go by unnoticed. The solution to Pluto square Pluto, and anything else that seems to ‘oppose’ you and the life you are living is to look it in the eye! Deal with it, don’t avoid it. It is a time to reconnect with your inner being, the not so visible you, the you that is not so much in the mind but in the unconscious part of you.
How to Handle Pluto Square Pluto?
Bodywork, workshops to express the inner you through art, meditation, writing classes, tarot, music. Another way is to listen careful to the insights that you get. What do your dreams tell you or your intuition? Time to listen carefully here and with an open mind. Don’t discard ideas, listen to the ideas and don’t let the mind interfere. Suppose your Pluto is in your fifth house: deal with your self expression, be proud of how you can express yourself and do it. You no longer have to hide in the crowd, get in the spot light and do your thing. I also wrote an article on five ways to use Pluto square Pluto positively.
How does Pluto Square Pluto appear in one’s life?
In the transit of Pluto square Pluto everyone has their own particular experiences. Pluto is in a different sign and in a different house. To give you an idea I will tell you my story of Pluto.
My natal Pluto is in Virgo, 9th house and when the transit happened Pluto had moved on to Sagittarius, 12th house. 9th house is all about freedom, travel and finding one’s own truth or religion. No where to look but inside of myself. The 12th house is about finding a connection with intuition or the higher self. Nicely connecting the 9th and the 12th house since Sagittarius is the sign of the 9th house!.
At that time I was running a very successful business with my partner, I was happy, enjoying life and care free. My work involved travel and sharing my knowledge with others. In March 2000 I gave birth to my daughter. 6 months later the very successful business I had with my partners (also in the last stage of his Pluto square Pluto) collapsed. It all happened slowly and without warning. Clients moved away because of natural causes mostly. There was no where an argument or hassle with clients. Work just stopped. Like that. Since I had always identified with work and not being at home but far away, I felt horrible and useless. It was time to change and leave old ideas about who I was behind me.
Pluto was also in my 12th house and stayed there until the end of October 2008. During this time I was not able to find a lot of work. With all my talents wasted- that is how I felt it- I was a stay at home mum and lost my self confidence. I gave birth to my second child and felt the marriage changed at the same time. Feeling vulnerable, useless, guilty and most of all I had no idea how to fill my days. From a doing person I became a full time being person and I resisted with all that I had inside of me. I was not going to give in and be myself. No way. I was my own enemy and scared to step out or even look outside of the box of beliefs and restrictions that I had placed upon myself.
Over time I got better at “being on holidays”, the guilt dispersed and very slowly I got to appreciate who I had become. The fear left me, joy was not yet there though. In 2007 I made, totally unaware at the time, the transition to another life, as myself. I walked to Santiago de Compostela in 11 weeks. Events during the walk made it possible to come to decisions. When I got home I ended my relationship and found a place to live by myself. I am still working on sharing my truth and living it and speaking it.

If you have questions on Pluto square Pluto, just leave your comments and I will get back to you.
With love, Miriam
P.S. In the questions that people ask I notice the tendency to fear Pluto square Pluto. In my opinion there is no need to be afraid of anything in astrology; bad predictions or bad oppositions do not exist out there. Only I in my mind have the thoughts that make me worry and worry about bad outcomes of events. Life brings me challenges like all of us have them. I try and look at them and listen to my inner voice that is sometimes so hard to hear with all the clutter of worry already in my mind.
p.p.s This is one of my drawings made at the time of my transit Pluto square Pluto. I called it Birth. There is more drawings in another post on this web-log called Drawings Pluto square Pluto.

I have a pluto square ‘cos I was born in ’70. My 7-8 years old son is living with his father and I’m trying to have him through the court. Do I have a chance to gain my son and to live with him again? I’ve been suffering since his father took him away from me and it’s about 1,5 years now.
Thank you for answering my question.
In a horoscope I can recognize tendencies and themes. The details of events are happening in your life itself. I could say something about the event if I knew your birth details.
Pluto is a planet for transformation and if I may be so bold this is definitely something that has an impact on you. Life changing also and it helps you transform yourself. Suffering and pain are sometimes needed to make us grow. And it hurts, badly. I wish you all the love and support you need.
my birth details: 1 September 1970 , hour: 16:24, Istanbul
my son’s birth details: 22 November 1999, 03:10 am, Istanbul
In a nutshell, in your horoscope Pluto and the Sun are close to each other in Virgo. In the eight house, the house to let go of things. Or the need to learn that things are not always perfect on first sight. There is a right time for everything and when you can trust where life brings you, it is easier to live your life and be who you are. Do you dare to look at why you have this event in your life? What can it teach you as a human on the road to growth? This has to do both with the marriage to this man and the separation of your son.
Pluto has now, 36 years later, indeed moved into the Pluto square Pluto position. It is now in the 12th house and you are ready to reconnect further with the intuitive or spiritual side of yourself. Can you see the connection here? On one hand you want to control your life. And now your soul is guiding you into the reconnection with your higher self or intuitive side of yourself. The transformation you can experience is all yours for the taking. The question is: What will you do with it?
My Pluto square will occur in 2008 on my birthday, January 15th, 1971. 12:53 p.m. Ann Arbor, MI. Does this mean that it’s part of my Solar Return chart? And if so, does this intensify or affect the aspect in any way? Thanks so much for your feedback.
You are talking about two things here:
1. Pluto square Pluto is about Pluto in the natal chart in connection with Pluto where it is about 90 degrees later. When you were born it was 29 degrees Virgo. That means it will be exact 90 degrees further around your birthday in 2008. The natal horoscope signifies the tendencies and themes in your life i.e. certain issues arising have to do with specific planets in a specific house and sign.
2. The solar return chart is a chart that is made for a year and is interpreted as a horoscope for a year. This is a forecast for the themes and tendencies for one year. I could not look at the exact chart since I would have to know where you live in January 2008.
In your case you have indeed the Pluto square on your birthday and in your solar return chart. To know the meaning you would have to look at the signs and the houses in both the natal chart and the solar return chart. Intense and possible transformation, time for change, that is how I see it.
In my son’s chart Moon is square with Uranus and Neptunus. Also Moon is conjunct with Saturn. These aspects may cause the child separate from mother, I know and we are so. But will this continue affecting us like this even when my son is grown up? I really hate this position because ı love him too much and his step mother is an ignorant nasty woman. Won’t we be able to live together at all. Will there always be a season for separation? Even if I get a good result in the court and start to live with my son again, should I be afraid of leaving him by another season like death? Will something occur due to the influence of the stars? Is there no way that these difficult aspects cause something positive but very hard to do needs to be dilligent.
In my humble opinion I would say that the planets and the stars do not rule our lives. We are the rulers of our own lives. The planets in astrology are used to look at our lives in a symbolic way. You decide what you choose and not the stars. Perhaps I can suggest that you look at the aspects in the horoscope that help you overcome this situation rather than giving importance to the ‘bad’ aspects and live as if they are true.
In some fascinating way there is a relationship between the planets and the lives of each one of us, but we are never a victim of the stars. There is a choice here.
I have been going slowly crazy since February and it’s really heating up in the last week. In desperation I scoured my chart to see what is going on and sure enough, Pluto square Pluto. My natal Pluto is at 27 Virgo. I feel like I am coming apart at the seams, like I am almost losing my grasp on reality. Cancer is my sun sign so I tend to put my needs last, and this bad habit, one I have fostered my entire life, is now really screaming in pain. I have two kids and a fiance and I feel completely alone in the Universe. I can’t catch my breath. I have always been very spiritual but around February of this year (when the square began), I decided to just put myself on a spiritual freeze out, I don’t know why I did this, but it was a conscious choice. I just didn’t see the point, like I have tried so many things and nothing works. I am depressed. Help me! What can I do to turn this around and make the most of this transit? I find myself self-medicating more than ever and I don’t want to downward spiral, but it’s like it’s happening on auto-pilot. I want to transform, I want to be at peace, I am desperate and sad and yes, very pathetic.
Hi Deborah, welcome here. I feel for you and what you are going through. What can I say? Perhaps you can sit down daily and write about what is bothering you. This is a good starter to have all the thoughts out of your head. Then you can see where your priority lies.
Feel your desperateness and your pathetic mood. There is no need to push it away as many people want you to believe. Most of all, take it easy on yourself, there is no need to be perfect at all. Virgo has a need of being perfect always! It might keep you in a roller coaster of putting the blame on yourself.
When you survive the day in portions of 5 to 15 minutes without getting crazy you are doing fine. Know that you are not alone in this process. Every one of us meets this time and has challenges to grow out of. Take care, if you need anything let me know. RW
HI
I was born 18/10/1970 (5.50am UK)and I note I have Pluto square Pluto (till Nov 2008) as well as Pluto square Mars (also till Nov 2008) Yikes. My natal pluto is in house 12 and pluto now in my house 3. My interest in astrology/occult etc looks like getting me into trouble, no? Also 3 months ago I broke up with the love of my life, probably forever as he has returned to live in his native Brazil. I can’t see how I am going to get over this at all. I can’t just wish the next 18 months away tho. Please help me know how to deal with this all.
Kind regards
I was just reading an article on another site that says sometimes the Moon in the 12 house can indicate a child not knowing it’s mother. Have you known this to be true? In the same article I couldn’t find anywhere that read about what house and planet were indicators of a child not knowing it’s father. I am newbie and deeply fascinated by astrology and have a lot to learn so any comments you would care to make would be appreciated.
Kind regards,
Sally
@tracey I am sorry to hear that your partner left you. For Pluto I can suggest to read my post Pluto in your Horoscope.
Your natal Pluto indicates that you are one way or the other a searcher wishing to connect on an emotional level to the spiritual part of you. Now with Pluto being in the third house you are about to communicate on that feeling. What does your intuition tell you? Can you express that in words, art or in bodylanguage? How can you get a hold on the feelings that are overwhelming? This is the time to make a huge step in your emotional development. Feel what you feel and learn to make sense of it. Old ways to connect to your emotions do no longer feel right. There is new goat tracks available, try and find them and use them!
What a great question Sally!
When interpreting chart I prefer to look at what empowers the person of the horoscope. Also in this case what does Moon in 12th house give to you, why would you have that and what could you use it for? The rest of the horoscope gives a good indication for that.
In short the 12th house is the last house where the circle of 12 houses comes together. It is the last part of the circle and for you with the Moon there the last piece of the emotional side of you.The things you try to hide or keep secret. In a way a search for connection with the emotional deeper side of you.
However sometimes the Moon is seen as Mother, and Sun is all about Father. Moon in 12 could indicate that the relation with the mother is on a deep emotional level and hurts at times. Since the relation with mother may just provoke the feelings you like to keep in the closet. The mother is the messenger of a message. Don’t kill the messenger, take the message.
All of luck with your studies in astrology, it is an interesting road!
Thank you and I agree with what you have written as I have Moon in Scorpio in the 12 house and the bound with my mother is very close. My mother is a Scorpio so the connection is obvious.
Recently a friend had a breakup with her boyfriend and she was very angry with herself because she didn’t see it coming. She asked me if I could see anything in her chart but I am not that good and wasn’t really sure where to start so I advised her to get over it and move on. Reason I am asking is to add to my learning so is there anything in a persons chart that indicates when why and whatever. I am also intrigued on what represents children , teens and adults in the chart.
@ Sally, That is quite a connection you have with your mother, with Scorpio and Moon! Moon in 12th is now supported in its depth by the Scorpio part of your chart.
“Get over things and move on”, sounds like a good advice. It is not always necessary to know the cause of things. We can learn from the experience by listening to our feelings about it. She felt surprised that says it all.
When and why and whatever is all over in the chart of birth and the chart of the moment. Not the details but the themes are easy to be seen. Children is the 5th house, adults would be the 11th house. It depends what you want to know really. There is more indicators and you are to look at the general pattern of the birth chart. Enough for now?
Thanks again, certainly gives me food for thought. I am going to invest in a astrology computer program to help me with the maths side as I want to have more time to study the books. A friend told me I must learn the maths as well, which I will in time. I know I have a lot to learn, but then again Rome wasn’t built in one day.
I was born 8-30-70 at 6:15 am. I have the first transit of Pluto sq Pluto on 9-30-07 (Sunday) and am wondering what to expect. My natal pluto is in the 2nd house and the transiting pluto hits the 5th. I have a 2 year old daughter and am in an abusive relationship and would like to get into a healthier environment but am scared about the process… He destroys my property to intimidate me with fear and the second house may come into play there. But more importantly, since our daughter was born he has threatened to take her away from me and that is my greatest fear. She is my light… So, I am very much wanting to get us to a better place but scared about how to get there and him taking her. Legally there are challenges as we are living in a different state with him than where all of my support network is. I am told that if I leave that state with her, even if it is abusive, that I can be seen as kidnapping her and could loose custody. We are out of state right now taking care of my mother who has cancer but due to return to the situation on Sunday, the day the transit hits. I wonder if it will all come to a head then?
I am so happy to find this website. What a valuable resource!!
Hi Rowan. My dear Pluto wonderwoman. You have got quite a thing going on in your life and there is not much I can add to your story right now. I answer your question almost 2 months after you asked it because I was away from my blog.
In general I would like to add that I have a strong feeling that Pluto square Pluto is telling you to look at the second house of values. What is the worth that you put on your self? How do you want to be treated by others and how are you going to be responsible for that? Where can you feel secure with yourself? The fifth house is the linking pin and asks of you to be creative and listen to your inner child. Look within and you find the answers. I wish you all the best. Miriam
I was born 31st May 1971, Swansea UK 3.10am. (I think I have a pluto square pluto thing going on)
I have 2 children my son who is 9 this week and my daughter who is 6 months 20th April 2007 4.12am. Since she was born i have felt a deep connection with her i feel she is either mirroring past issues about myself that i need to heal and let go of or/and she has healing abilities herself and is trying to help me let go of the past. I am so greatful for her presence in my life but i am struggling and overwhelmed by the responsibility of motherhood. I really want to enjoy every second with my children but feel overtaken by having to deal with personal issues. I also have minimum time to spend by myself in meditation alone with i probably need at this time. Any suggestions?
Great website really useful info.
I see that many things are going on in your life during this time with indeed a “Pluto-square-Pluto-thing” going on. Your natal Pluto is in the 6th house related to work and health and it now travels the area of your opinions, for finding your own truth. Apparently your children trigger many things to heal you and find your own truth. It is not easy to find time for yourself while being a mother. Focus on what you do feel: that your sweet babygirl is trying to help you. Showing you that you are the best mum for her. Learn and trust yourself as a mother, one step at a time. You could affirm: “I love myself and I am the best mum for my children”. I know that you can do it. With love Miriam
Hello, and I would like to first thank you for giving myself and others the opportunity to find resolution in this crazy time. I was born 09/09/1970 at 04:12a.m. EST my natal Pluto is in my 2nd house, and transiting pluto which was exact on Sunday 10/21/07 is currently residing in my 5th house. I have never really been at home with my emotions or my place in the world (always discontented with jobs & my love life), but now it’s hit an all time high. I’m currently in my 2nd marriage to a man I’ve been involved with since 1992, but we just got married in 2005. I love him dearly, but I’m always searching for great passion in other relationships. I feel like even if I have a career that I love I can divert some or most of my attention towards that. Right now I just feel lost. I spent most of my life tending to other people and their problems to the expense of my own life, and now I feel like just busting loose. Please help me to understand what might be going on.
Monica, in your question you point towards your answer. Pluto in the second house is all about the value you put on yourself. It also makes you look again and again at the values that you carry and what is really important to you. The focus can be on you and your needs. This is not selfish, this is sane behavior. Take a look at how you can make yourself happy. Do things for yourself every day, just because you like to do them for you. Remember that no one or no thing can make you happy, only you can. The fifth house points towards the inner child; nurture your inner child. Hug her, kiss her, listen to her and ask her what she needs. Take care Miriam
Hi I was born on 14/07/1973 at 9.52pm in Ripon, UK and currently pluto is transisting my 11th house and squaring my natal pluto in the 7th.
I think I am clearing old outworn issues around relationships and getting to the bottom of things in my relationships but some deep rooted grief came up about my mother the other day……..about not getting my needs and wants met.
Could you add to this?? Could this mean I am going to split up with my partner of nearly 3 years.. I don’t want to as I love him very deeply but he does bring up deep stuff about my mum as he is quite similar to her in his emotional disposition which is quite detatched and cold.
Oh just to add to this transiting pluto is also opposing my natal saturn in the 5th…. I would be very grateful if you could enlighten me a bit more about what is going on!!!! It is not the easiest to deal with!!
@Kath: Pluto at the time of your birth is indicating that other people miror very strongly who you are yourself. This is true for most of you, for you it seems unbearable at times to deal with the stuff other people make you look at. Pluto works slowly and thorougly and for your growth. Stay present in the moment and look what happens. Feelings may arise and you can look at what you want to do with the feelings. If something feels good approach, if it does not feel good move away. That is all I would like to say to do. All the best, Miriam
I have been going through Pluto square my natal Pluto and Mars since 2005-2006. It has been a seriously stressful transit, one of the most draining I have ever been through. I have used flower essences for most of the past 3 years to help me deal with it. I look forward to the day the transit is over which should be later in 2008. Pluto square Pluto is a big karmic nightmare pain in the ass.
@Cathy, I agree that Pluto can feel like that. Deep down on your soul level you are longing for change and Pluto and other planets are out there perhaps to be your guide. Hang in there, let me now how you are going. Miriam
Dear Radiantwoman,
I am hoping you can give me some hope. I was born March 3, 1970. I, too have pluto square pluto and it’s been going on since early 2006. Unfortunately, I have also had pluto square venus for about 2 years, pluto is trining my mars, my saturn, and sextiling my mercury. To add to the festivities, saturn has been in my second house, and neptune is parked in the eighth where it will be for several more years. I AM PLUTOED!!!! I dont know how much more I can stand. I have lost everything I have worked for, I am now separated from my husband, and I am exhausted. Now it looks like my teenagers are going to be adding to the stress. I just need something positive to look forward to. Do you see any good opportunities for me coming at all?
@Amie. I must admit that being Plutoed to me seemed like a great thing only after it was over. You are in for a bumpy ride in a roller coaster as you are already experiencing. Your life will change for the better. Life has all kind of possibilities and opportunities for you and all of us. Do not search for them, you will find them popping up in your life just when you need them. Strong experiences make you into more of who you really are. You will find your opportunities yourself, you will recognize them when you see them. And then grab them and use them for all they are worth! Miriam
Oh, I forgot to mention, my birth time is 1:40 pm March 3,1970 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
My birth info is Sept 7, 1969, 5:07pm, Fort Belvoir, VA. I’ve been told that Pluto has been moving retrograde and direct squaring my Pluto since about 2004, and it does feel like that. I’m also told it should start to calm down later in 2008. My question about feeling like my social life has been at an all time low since around late 2004, and really, really lonely lately. It’s like no one I meet quite fits (I mean friends, although I would certainly welcome a lover, too.) This is fairly scary, ’cause you can’t make someone fit. I want to believe that this sense of unintentional isolation is related to Pluto so that I can look forward to it passing – but if that is what’s going on I also want to know what I can do to make the most of this period. I want friends and love, you know? Thank you for whatever you can tell me. — P.S. Do you work with the Mountain Astrologer? My sister works there.
@Meaghan: Your Pluto is now just about to enter your 12th house. It is passing out of its square with Pluto at the time of your birth. The 11th house is the house of friends and indeed the last 10 years you must have noticed some shifts in friendships and how you relate to friends and groups in general.
It is normal to want the things that we do not have in life. Apparently life is showing you its lonely side, or at least that is what I read in your little piece. See how you can take care of you, even when there seem to be no more friends around. Make peace with being alone and feel the loneliness that you carry. That is all for now. Take care. Miriam
I have just learned I have a mars squared pluto. I am worried about the pluto square pluto coming in 2009. I don’t know how my other aspects effect all this as I am very very novice to astrology. But from the books I have read that just give the bare association of Mars square pluto I am really kind of freaked out. They say some REALLY bad things. Scary things. Anything you could tell me would be highly appreciated my birth info is Jan 4th 1979. 9:13 PM, Peoria IL, USA
Hi Cyndi, first of all your horoscope is not THE truth. Your truth is inside of you, what feels right for you at any give time. A horoscope can give you some insights into your life but never gives the details. As far as books go, any planet and any connection between planets can be interpreted positive, negative and neutral. Why would you take a negative interpretation as truth for you? Mars and the Sun in your chart makes you very grounded and Pluto is taking care of the airy fairy part of you. Do not let your thoughts carry you away. Stay grounded and you will be alright. Check what you feel and then go back into your mind. Does this make sense? With love Miriam
Hello Miriam,
Since pluto is currently changing signs and moving into the 1st degree of Capricorn (in my 11th house), I am feeling the impact the transit squaring my natal pluto in the 8th house.
I am feeling hopeless, insecure and my confidence is at an all time low! I am feeling worthless, not sure if this is the astrology or just me at the moment. My North node sits in my 11th and have a venus/pluto conjunction in the 8th, squaring my saturn in the 5th. I have applied for work in an industry I have worked within in the past, but have also enrolled to study in a completely new area all together and I’m really not sure which way to go. I don’t believe I will get this job in Publishing (even though the interview is pending next week) or if I should just go into study Graphic Design. I have Neptune in Sag. in the 10th trine Mercury in Leo in the 6th. I was born 15/08/1973 at 5:35pm in Melbourne, Australia. Miriam, any insight you have would be greatly appreciated and most helpful.
Hi Carly, keyword in your story is confidence. You have a tendency to go back into the past which you have already left behind. Try and make little steps forward that give you confidence in you and what you feel you are to do. Your square is nearly over, most of the work is already done. Your pluto is in the area of your friends and groups and they will appear to support you when you are ready for them. take care of you and make those steps!
in 2008 my pluto will square pluto…and in my natal chart pluto is in the 12th house (libra) in conjunction with the ascendant….could it be dangerous?
Thank and sorry for my English
Ciao Pash, non che bisogno di preoccuparti! There is no need to worry. You will experience new things in life that will help you transform yourself. The planets are far away in the sky, they will not hit you or anything. They are symbols to give you hints about the experiences you will have. So your pluto is in the 12th house and with the square it will make you leave behind things that you no longer need. Try and talk or write about your experiences to grab their meaning yourself. Ciao Miriam
What? No one has Pluto in their first house but me?
aug, 4, 1979 Brooklyn, NY, USA 11:00 AM
Hi Miriam, I have Pluto conjunct my libra ascendant in the first house. Pluto just entered Capricorn which rules my 4th house. I believe this means Pluto sq Pluto is just around the Corner. Since Pluto affects my ascendant and therefore has such precedance in my chart what horrors do you think I need to look out for from this square?
Hi Baker, first house pluto. Welcome. I would say there is no horrors to be expected. Have you done your home work in the area of your home, family life and on a soul level? Every thing you have not done will be done now. Use the moment well, since it has the possibility in it to transform you on a soul level at this time. Bye Miriam
Hi Mariam, my birth information is March 6, 1972 10:42 am Bangkok, Thailand.
According to astro.com, my Pluto square Pluto will start tomorrow. I don’t know much about astrology. I normally read what it said in astro.com and try to prevent the bad prediction. I think my natal pluto is in the 5th house (very close to 4th house) and my transit pluto will be in 7th house for one year and then 8th house for one year. Does it mean my relationship with my boyfriend will breakdown? I moved from Thailand to Canada about 3 years ago. We now have a little baby together. And I plan to settle my life here. Our relationship is kind of up and down and having a new baby is kind of tough on me. I’m afraid if we broke up, I had to move back home and baby wouldn’t see his daddy much. Oke the most important question that I want to ask, can I prevent the outcome of Pluto square Pluto? Can I make the impact less dangerous? I’m talking about free will and well prepare. And can other good transits off set bad transits? I’m having Pluto trine Venus, I’ll have Jupiter sextile Sun, Jupiter sextile Moon, and soon Uranus trine Moon. Will these transits ease the coming difficult time? Thank you.
@Natalie: Of course you can prevent the outcome of Pluto square Pluto. The impact that events in our life can have is up to us. Are you honest to yourself and do you deal with what life is offering you? Then you are doing all you can. And remember we are all doing the best we can. We are learning to become more of who we are and can be.
my natal pluto is in libra the 3rd house…what might the pluto square pluto transit potentially mean for me?
Perhaps you can read my article on Pluto in your Horoscope, and find inspiration in it? Your question is very broad. Could you narrow it down a bit? Miriam
pluto has been hard to deal with, it follows the eclipses in virgo. it is almost over but goes stationary direct near the exact minute of my pluto slightly late. it is in the 4th/ 6th house. my date of birth is 24 oct 1970, 10.10 pm, san jose,ca. profound transformation is in store. people are asking me to do more than i can. and am dealing with an enormous deficit in my personal life. in my home life. with demands i cannot meet. thank you so much for your time, love and peace ari
Hi Ariana, turbulent times when personal life and home life is in transformation! What is the question you have for me? Bye Miriam
Hi Miriam, I have just begun a pluto square pluto transit and am feeling like there is so much I need to fix in my life that it feels overwhelming. How can I harness this planets energy to help me?
Ciao Meri, You have all the time in the world to find a way to use this energy. Inside of you is this eternal part of you, you will learn to nurture it and listen to it. Take care and have fun with this energy that is there for you. Miriam
Hi Miriam,
I am at the start of Pluto square Pluto with natal in the 12th house, transiting in the 3rd. So many of these comments ring true for me: A conscious decision to spiritually freeze out, feeling like everything I’ve worked for in life has gone out the window and every last bit of hope squeezed out of me. I don’t feel heavy, like saturn transits in the past, but a seething at everything around me. I recently ended a 7 year relationship during this pluto/mars opposition, (his mars at 29 gemini). There is so much anger and rage mixed with so much emotional history and caring. Completely confusing. I am journaling, and it’s frightening to open up my journal and see this feeling has been going solid for a month. I don’t want to become bitter, but I don’t know how to transform it.
Thank you.
Hi Mary. A hypothesis: you are right on track with journaling, the anger and rage with emotional stuff from the past is surfacing to bring you deeper into contact with your source. The ego part of you will do all it can to convince you other wise. Hang in there, you are an courageous woman to end a 7 year relationship and yes it hurts. Acknowledge that. With love Miriam
[...] again I answer comments on my post What is Pluto square Pluto?. It is one of the astrology articles on this blog that has been drawing a big amount of people. [...]
i discovered last night that i have a pluto square pluto transit. pluto is transiting 6th house. mars is also going through my 12th. felt emotionally really challenging a couple weeks ago. seems to be shifting. started homeopathy. feel the need to be physical more than usual. mostly, a lot of visibility on my life ruins. discovering the beauty but also in a space of needing to hold a lot. am only 35. has felt like a lot of ancient ‘karmic’ stories even surfacing. jupiter return at the moment and so also things feel lit up and so it is confusing. the desire to retreat is enormous but feel my life work lighting up –so these depths feel unbearable and learning how to use them in my work w/ women (am a storyteller/mythmaker/writer/facilitator) but my work is brand new and confused of how to emerge safely during this time. visibility feels so raw.
Hi Stacey, I wish you all the best with what you are doing. Being visible, yes it is raw. On the other end being visible can turn into becoming more of yourself and then it is no longer as raw as it used to be. Showing yourself equals being yourself, that can never be raw, I feel it has no end and no vulnerability. I am getting more and more aware of just this part of being visible. It hurts yes and in the hurting and surpassing the hurt you get to the pot of gold. Being you with your good parts and the less good parts. Good luck, Miriam
Hi Miriam
My friend just emailed me that he was out of the country and had surgery for two consecutive days in a row. I really don’t know what happened to him?
I have emailed and called him several times but no response. I pray he is still alive. I have tried to contact his family but have had no response. I am only an acquaintance of his.
He has pluto in the first (in libra at 03 degrees) square transiting pluto in his fourth. Pluto is the ruler of his third and he has aries on the 8th. I know there is hope because transiting pluto is sextile mars at 05 degrees in pluto in his second house.
For now, I am scared but anxious to hear from him or someone in his family but it could be days or weeks? Thank you for your help in advance.
Tricia
@tricia, what can I do for you? And what can you say to yourself for comfort? Hang in there. Bless you and your friend. Miriam
Hi Miriam,
I am thankful to find your website. I googled ‘pluto square pluto’ and I came to these pages. I am in the final stages of this transit. There has been much change overall in the last 1 1/2 yrs but especially alot in the past 2 months. I ended a relationship, moved, freelance day job ended, and changed my hair color for the first time ever. (I like it but it’s scary at the same time. It’s like ‘who am I??’). In the summer I did personal work on past issues with the help of EMDR and some writing. I’ve also formally started studying astrology and tarot.
I am entirely unsure as to whether to keep pursuing acting as I have been doing. Have had some successes at it, especially in the past year, but for some reason, I don’t even know if this is my ‘passion’ anymore. I feel so listless and lifeless and just want to crawl in a hole somewhere and wait for it to be all over.
Obviously, I don’t really want to do that….otherwise, I wouldn’t be here at your site or writing you! So please, do you have any suggestions? And can you tell if I should keep doing the acting? I was born 8-20-71, Philadelphia, PA.
Thank you in advance for any insights you may have.
Best wishes,
Melissa
Hi Melissa, know that you are doing all you can, this phase with Pluto is so helping you grow into who you are. You are getting there and trust your feelings about what you feel you have to do. I did not look at your chart and cannot comment on it just now, I am quite busy at the moment. If you do feel like a reading from your chart, feel free to do so.
As for the acting, go with what you desire for yourself. Make baby steps towards the desire and look for what life hands to you in response. With love Miriam
I was born 17 June 1972 and am having a Pluto Square — transiting Pluto is also opposing my sun/venus (so a nice T-Square), natal Pluto is at 29 Virgo.
So with this transit I got a new job and the boss has pluto conjunct his sun/mercury, a pluto trine as well as his Progressed sun opposing his natal Pluto. His natal sun is at 29 sag.
Don’t you think it is awesome that our paths should cross now? Look it is obviously rather challenging – but heck its interesting!! wish i knew more of astrology!!!
great site by the way!
lioni
@Lioni, of course you meet a boss like that right now. That is how things work in life. Have fun with it. Miriam
I’m glad I found this site as it has given some great guidance with respect to the pluto sq. pluto transit.
I have tr. pluto soon in 11th house sq. natal pluto in 7th house coming up soon. ( I also have my natal sun and mars in my 7th house). Thing is, I’ve never had a romantic relationship and at the moment I have no friends (as pathetic as that sounds, I currently live away from my homeland and have not been able to meet genuine people).
So I’m not too sure what pluto can take away cause I have nothing in the way of relationships right now. I am looking for a job and am hoping that the pluto conjunct jupiter (10th house) transit which will end shortly will bring me work. I’d love to know what you think about my transits.
Lisa
DOB 30th Aug, 1972
@Hi Lisa, thanks for the compliment, and really I am no where near an expert on Pluto and how it works out in YOUR life. So do not even think about taking anything on board if it does not feel right for you.
By birth you have a strong will and a lot of energy to present yourself in the world. The challenge for you lies in taking care of you and what makes your heart sing and at the same time having others contribute to you and share life with them. It could also be quite a challenge for other people to be around you. “Superficial people”; you smell them from far away. You might take a look at the people in your immediate surroundings and find the ones that you dislike the most. They are big teachers for you and make you look at what you dislike the most about yourself. The transit of Pluto can help you.
With the transit Pluto square Pluto that has been going on for a while now, you are challenged in your 7th house and 10th house. Not so much the 11th house yet. My best guess is that you are being called to live life from your natural authority. To feel the power that is hiding inside of you, to respect it and listen to it more and more. And yes, be(com)ing your own authority would also entail changes in the area of work, how can it not? When you are becoming stronger into who you want to be and are living it, the right job will come in your life within no time. Miriam
Thank you so much Miriam….and really spot on! Even with the immediate dislike of some people who I realise I have learnt from even if I can’t get along with them. I think you’re quite right when it comes to finding my own authority as I have not been as strong as I should be. I really do hope that brings in a new job and the correct career direction.
Thank you again,
LisaSimpson
I have this: transiting pluto just entering 11th house again (after retrograde into 10th) square natal pluto in 8th house (natal sun and venus in my 8th house too). Ended a 3 year relationship with immense difficulty and community scandal involved too, left my freelancing jobs and moved country (twice!). I now have not made any new friends where I am, so feel very isolated, but think I have met the love of my life, unexpectedly, and have also started to study astrology seriously. I’m also going through my SR so this could impact too, but I’m focussing on trying to identify my pluto square at the moment, as well as Pluto squaring my sun and venus in the next while too. 8th house party
Wow Tally, it’s had quite an impact on you too. I am still in the isolated state although just yesterday I got a job through someone I used to work with so hopefully not for long.
That’s wonderful and fingers crossed that you have found true love
I’m still on my own but am ok with it, I’m so focussed on work and career right now although if someone wonderful walked through the door I wouldn’t say no….might run away but not say no..lol
8th house Pluto must be incredibly intense….do you find you are quite intense normally?
Hi Lisasimpson
Yes 8th house pluto is incredibly intense and I’m obsessed with hidden things, secrets and finding out that which is beneath the surface.
Congrats on the job, that is great! Interesting that it came at the end of Merc. Retrograde and that its someone you used to work with, it seems to tie right in.
hi Tally, 8th house party, that is an expression that I might use again
Thanks for sharing here.
And Lisa wow a job, good on you. I wish you a lot of luck with that. Good ole Pluto!
Thanks Miriam and Tally
and I’m grateful but a bit confused cause I have another interview for a totally different position coming up next week. I’m sort of qualified in two different professional areas and am torn about choosing the right one. Still, I’m going to trust the angels.
Miriam I do find your interpretation of pluto sq. pluto in my houses rather fascinating and I do think the one that brings out my personal power will ultimately be the one that I end up in. So I’ll see.
Tally I must admit finding the 8th house Pluto very interesting. My sister has a 3rd house Pluto and cannot let go of things. She constantly obsesses about stuff that was said and events throughout the day. So I can almost imagine what an 8th house Pluto is like….moving country twice in itself is amazing.
I realise from my Pluto square that everytime I got hold of one rung of the ladder career wise, I let it go. So I repeatedly end up climbiing the same rung of the ladder and not getting any higher. Time for that to stop now!
Hi Lisasimpson
well I do tend to obsess about hurts and pains from the past and have trouble moving on from them. The pain feels insistent and constant. Is this what you were referring to with an 8th house pluto?
I also seem to have discovered a shadow side of myself that actually seeks out pain and then become self-pitying. This is a huge realisation, of course I don’t want this consciously and am trying to remedy it.
I obsess about my partners previous lovers too (in a quiet, sad way which I keep to myself). It is so synchronous that you said that thing about not being able to let go, because yesterday I just had a lightbulb moment that I need to just ‘let things go’. I am enjoying our exchange!
Well I am at a complete loss concerning my career at the moment, I am having great difficulty going back to what I used to do, even though I need to pay the bills, I am stalling because I feel that I am on the verge of a huge career change. I just unfortunately don’t know exactly what it is or what next step to take. Very frustrating, because if I did, I would throw myself into it.
Hi T and L, girls in Pluto square Pluto transit. I like the conversation you are having a lot. By the way my pluto is in the 8th house or 9th house, depending on the house system you use. So that might explain my curiosity for the themes that are present in both of your horoscopes to guide you through the process of transformation during Pluto transits. For Lisa it is the inner authority and a new way to relate to others. And Tally, what is in your opinion, in the symbolism of the horoscope I mean, the positive aspect of this transit of Pluto? Would you mind to share that?
I think its the intense desire to live authentically even if its impractical. Immense difficult change. And the stripping away of what I do not need. And isolation. I wish this blog could auto-inform me when someone reply’s to my post!
Hi Tally, you can subscribe to the feed of the comments for the post itself. You can find the feed just above “Leave a reply”. For this post the feed link is :

As for your response re Pluto square Pluto being authentic is a great help. Do you find that in your 11th house?
Well Pluto is just about to enter my 11th house again, so I’m not sure what you mean by that…
Sorry for tardy response times, but I’m in the middle of my SR and my friend’s fathers are dying!
Hi Tally, I wish you all the strength you need!
As for Pluto: I do not know your horoscope so was just curious where you find the authenticity during Pluto square Pluto, that is all. Ciao Miriam
My pluto is 11 Virgo, 2nd house, Oct 26, 1962. Leo rising. I believe I had my pluto square pluto around 14 years ago? Its no joke and not to be taken lightly. During that time I moved to another state, my husband was having affairs and we divorced which left me with two small children ages 2 and 3 yrs old. So there I was plopped down in a city I didn’t know with no friends or family, basically abandoned. I might as well have been dropped off in a foreign country. I am still a single mom and loving it. I got in to astrology and tarot at that time and went from a door mat to an independent and strong woman. At least thats what people tell me. It was the most awful time of my life and dangerous as my ex was violent, aggressive and bullying which really hurt my self esteem. I am so happy now though, that I am single, free and my kids are the greatest. At the time I also had pluto trining my ascendant and possibly mars in leo in my 12th. So I just thought I would pass this along as someone who has felt the full effects of this transit and lived to tell about it. =) I do not wish this harshness on others however. I look forward to my pluto trine and suggest that others look to any trines in their transits to help with the pluto square aspect. Any advice on pluto in cap in my fifth trine pluto in virgo? thanks
hi Dana, welcome here and thankx for your sharing on the effects of Pluto.
Pluto’s position in your horoscope right now will definitely make you look at how you take care of your inner child and how you behave in the outer world. Your homework has already been done in a way. Your soul has been cleansed thoroughly with Pluto moving through your fourth house.
Since you are interested in Jupiter, have a look at that planet and its function as well. Interesting times ahead.
By the way, your Pluto square Pluto was around December 1999.
Miriam
Hi there,
My ascendant is 9 degrees Libra. Natal Pluto is at 11 degrees. I believe my square will occur at the cusp of my 4th house within the next few years. Do you have any thoughts of what I might expect? I’m worried there might be some kind of family or home change. My husband’s Pluto square will occur at the same time in his 2nd house. (His birthday is a week after mine.) I’m hoping it’s a good one like moving into a new home rather than his losing his job and us having to move in with parents! Thanks for your input.
Hi sag, welcome here. When and where were you born? Then I can have a look for you.
dear Miriam,
thank you. I’ve found lots of relief on this site knowing that there are plenty of us going thru this transformation and looking for answers. I’m a bit confused about the length of pluto sq pluto transit as astro.com website proposes that my transit will last from mid march 08 until oct 2010 ? is this possible ? Pluto, transiting my first house squares both 9th house pluto (conjunct midheaven) and 3rd house mars. pluto is also going to conjunct my capricorn sun in the 1st house in couple of months, to “finish the job” so to speak, even it feels more like “to finish me”. I’m moving to a new city without knowing exactly why, apart from enormous frustration and wanting to leave everything and start anew without the weight of the past.

Oh, ok.
Dec 14, 1975 Bremerton WA 1:31am
@Sag, WA is Washington? Then I would say this to you:
Pluto square Pluto will be exact for the first time in 2013, another 5 years away. Your natal Pluto in the first house and Pluto square in the fourth house could mean changes around who you are outwardly and inwardly on a soul level. Fourth house is indeed about home and family, also however about how you relate to your inner soul and its path. In other words to what extent do you follow your intuition? This transit will show itself in events that trigger you to live your souls path.
Remember also that you have everything it takes to handle the events already inside of you. Learn to trust yourself and your gut feeling and you will be fine.
@Seahorse, you are welcome! Trying what I can to create a platform to use Pluto positively and not buying into the fear it might arouse in people.
To answer your question: indeed Pluto square Pluto can take a while, since Pluto is not a fast moving planet. You have an interesting combination coming up and it resembles my own horoscope. In my experience trusting myself and the source, the divine or whatever you want to call the greater source where we come from, helps me living my life at a time when I get stripped from old worn out beliefs. When you think that you are truly alone you will notice that you are not alone and you never were. I cannot explain it much better in words. With love Miriam
Thanks. What did you mean about Jupiter? Well right now the issue seems to be pluto squaring my moon! and wouldn’t you know my mother just moved in with me. Its been interesting. We have worked out some of the kinks and seem comfortable at the moment. It does help with finances too. I have heard some wild stories of pluto square moon since moon is often mother in the chart. With my type of chart (I think its like a bowl or a locomotive) all my planets are in one part of my chart so pluto would eventually square my mercury, sun, neptune and venus by the time it get through aquarius.
@Dana, my wording was not correct. I meant to say “Since you are interested in astrology, have a look at Jupiter.” This planet has quite some influence in your birth horoscope and is at this time triggered as well. Have a look at astro.com, fill in your details and select the forecast report under free horoscopes.
Interesting how your mum and you are now working things out. She will trigger you to stay true to yourself on an intense level. Bye for now Miriam
Wow, I noticed on astro.com that there are like four major Jupiter transits going on for me. How bad can Jupiter be? I will investigate all this further since right now, absolutely nothing is going on, I’m so bored and I have plenty of time on my hands. I feel like I should either get into some kind of interesting hobby I’ve always wanted to try or get a second career going. This could all just be temporary as it’s feast or famine in the real estate business. I feel like something is brewing though and soon I will be doing something and back out in the world talking to people again. Thanks again for the feedback, it helps a lot.
Jupiter is planet of growth and opportunities, and it sounds you are now in the void so to speak. It is like being on holidays while you prepare for what is to come next. Ciao Miriam
Hi miriam, I am experiencing my second “hit” of pluto square pluto, with my natal pluto being in the fifth house. I feel very insecure about both my relationships and feel a strong desire to change my job. In all of this I feel very frightened to ask questions or make moves. It feels like if someone is going to say something that I don’t want to hear then catastrophe will follow. I feel very stuck. Do you have any advice? Cheers Meri
Hi Meri, Desire is a good indicator of where your soul wants you to go. In all the turmoil you are learning to no longer give attention to the rational voice in your head. If I can make a suggestion, try and go with what makes you feel joyful. Your first impression of things is mostly a gut feeling. Move a little closer when something feels good, like a change of jobs. And move away from things when they do not feel right. And tell the rational voice to go to Siberia!
Pluto is asking to look again at your life and the desires that are waiting to be fulfilled. Know that help is never far away and that you are right on track, even though it does not feel like it.
Good luck!
Miriam, thank you so much for your guidance. I am listening more closely to my “gut” to find direction. Although the joy isn’t there yet, I feel like I’m finding my way home. Cheers Meri
Yes! We are all learning to play the game called life. And it takes time to learn the rules… I wish you well on your path. Ciao Miriam
Miriam,
I am losing my mind! I just figured out I have transiting Pluto squaring my natal Pluto- I think. I feel like my emotional state is being completely deconstructed. I want to quit my job, run away, and hide. Instead, I just cry an awful lot. I started thinking maybe I needed to be medicated- but I hate modern medicine.
I just had an academic article rejected for publication, I can’t stand my coworkers, and even though I bought a house in July – I just want to run away and abandon everything/ everyone. I actually feel incredibly alone.
Any ideas? Please, any help is welcome.
dob: July 5, 1970 2:06 pm Pontiac, Michigan.
much appreciation,
Susan
Your Natal Pluto is in 24.56 degrees Virgo (11th house of peer groups, organisation and ideas) and it is today 0.45 degrees Capricorn (3rd house of communication, thoughts and the mind). So I would say you are nearly “graduated” from Pluto square Pluto.
If I look at the position of natal Pluto you are being transformed by the relations with friends and members of your peergroup. The two sided aspect would entail both powerstruggles by excercising your authority in a ‘wrong’ way. On the other end you would give up some part of your identity when you feel you want to belong to a group.
The aspect of Pluto square Pluto triggers new ways of thinking and of communicating your thoughts to others. So combined with natal Pluto being related to groups and being who you are in that group, will make up for nice fireworks.
An article rejected for publication? Perhaps you can have a second look at it for it is clear that you can do better. What is it that you can say in that article that you did not say yet? Have another go at what you really feel about it now?
Problem with co-workers? Yeah right, that is the 11th house. How do you behave towards your co-workers? What is it that you do not like about them? For that is where you can grow yourself.
A house and you feel like running away? No way, that is only allowed when you calmed down a bit and when your head is clear. Life is throwing things your way since that is what life is about you know. You are still a great person, only life around you is making things messy. You need to make a couple of decisions and look for just the things that are being destroyed in your eyes, that is where you need to make a new choice. Life is in fact asking you: “Susan, honey, this is not how you want it to be with your article and your co-workers. Please make up your mind about what you want and then make a better choice.”
I wish I could do more. Know that you are not alone. If you were living in the Netherlands I would invite you for a cup of tea with other people going through Pluto square Pluto ! With love Miriam
Miriam,
I was drowning in the middle of an angst filled afternoon and suddenly there was an email from you! What a gift! Thanks for your quick reply and for helping me feel slightly less crazy. I’ve undoubtedly accepted the fact that my thinking has a determinedly odd edge to it, but the past few weeks I have been fairly inconsolable.
So I am at the tail end of the square? Why does it feels like it just started? Is Pluto going to keep knocking my brain around for many years since it just entered Capricorn? You asked me to reflect on what I don’t like about the situations I posted about- and I must say that I don’t like my coworkers b/c they seem highly clannish and out for themselves. I felt that I came to this job wide-open to the world, but over time I have shut myself off because I grew tired of the political games in academia. I can hardly afford to up and quit my job since I now have a mortgage. Plus, on the good days I really do genuinely like my job. It’s just that right now I worry the entire system in out to crush me. Perhaps therein lay the real issue- am I just looking for a fight?
On an intellectual level I would say “no”, but maybe somewhere inside I have spent the better part of my life fighting to be acknowledged. I was certainly not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but school was always something I could do- sometimes spitting and cursing along the way, but it was still a game I knew how to play. Now, it’s like I am screaming I don’t want to play anymore, while feverishly running back to my office to hide behind piles of student paper and books. I have let my identity turn into my job and that’s a horrible position to occupy.
Please save a cup of tea for me! I’ve been through the Netherlands on a train once and I’d love to visit with other recently or currently Pluto squared Pluto people!
love and light-
Susan
Hi Susan again,
Take a couple of days to reflect about thoughts and feelings around the issues that usurp your energy. Then choose again and return to what gives you joy and makes you happy. Of course there will always be people or things that you do not like. Change what you can and do not give energy to the rest that you cannot change.
As for Pluto square Pluto: when it is over that depends on the orb you use. Pluto square Pluto is exact when your 24.56 degrees of Natal Pluto make a ninety degree connection to transiting Pluto in 24.56 Sagittarius. That was January 2, 2006. The planets keep moving and then the orb gets bigger. The orb being the difference between the exact hit and before or after the hit. So today Pluto is 0,48 degrees Capricorn and that makes the orb 5,52 degrees. I use an orb of 6 degrees, some people use one of 10 degrees. So for me you are nearly there. When Pluto is 1,56 degrees Capricorn you graduate. That is 21st of January 2009.
In order to know what happens for you astrologically you will have to look at your horoscope. A great tool for that is astro.com. Fill in your details and look for the short report forecast. Then you get to see the computerized version of your horoscope right now.
I will make you a fresh cup of tea and will sent out invitations for Pluto square Pluto “survivors” when you sent word about visiting Europe! Have a wonderful month and make the decisions you feel like. All the best, Miriam
Miriam,
Thanks again for this useful posting. Pluto being activated in my chart certainly explains why I have been beside myself for the past couple of years.
You are obviously right about dealing with others and I will continue to stop, breathe, and smile when confronting difficult people. I used to want to win everyone over- but I think I can stop that now- or try less at least.
I’ll let you know when I buy another ticket!
Peace and light,
Susan
We could take each other by the hand when confronting these difficult people.
And also could it be that I am difficult and not them? I notice how I kind of judge a woman that I meet often. She complains a lot when talking to me. But well, why would she complain to me in particular? Because I allow her to? Because I can only look at her as a difficult or complaining person? No there is more to that. Self reflection is the perfect tool here.
See you! RW
Great blog, Miriam! You truly are a radiant woman.
I am just beginning this transit. I have my Pluto in Libra in the 10th house. It is also retrograde.
I am going on a long journey soon (several months in SE Asia w/my family) and am wondering what to expect with this transit.
If you have any insights, I would be very grateful!
hi Kirsten, radiant woman!
thks for the compliment and had to return to you as well.
To answer your question: 10th house is about taking your own authority and listening to the inner voice. It is about how you behave in the world and how confident you are, in a nutshell. Most of the time your father plays a role here, since he is the kind of person that shows us authority in family life, most of the time any way.
On the basis of your info I would say that your Pluto is probably in your first house Capricorn at this time. First house is about your identity and the role you play in life. What part of you is visible in life and what do you share with others? So during the Pluto square Pluto you are changing the you on an inside and outside level. You will have to take your time to choose your own path and share the inner authority that has been build already by you. I am curious how Pluto will show up during your trip and I wish you a great trip! Have an enormous amount of fun and sunshine.
P.S. To say something further about Pluto I would need to have your birth details (date of birth, place of birth and time).
Thanks so much, RW!
I’m a little paranoid about posting my birth stats, but here it goes:
[edited out by RW]
I am very curious about how Pluto will show up on my trip! Astro.com has me a little paranoid with the whole “a lot will be destroyed during this time”. YIKES! I just don’t know how to tell where transits are occurring, which would obviously give me much better insight. Peace, Kristen
PS Do you twitter?
@Kirsten:The highlights of your transit are to do with the first house and that is getting to know yourself and exerting self control and self power. You rock girl and you had better believe it yourself in 2009!
If you dream about being more of yourself, having self-control and learning to stand your ground, the transit is really rewarding. In order to experience that you will let go of old habits that no longer support who you have become. That is not difficult or anything, it is a natural thing! During your travel you will not even notice so much that that is what you do. Traveling takes you out of your normal routine anyway which is just what you need at this time.
In your horoscope Pluto helps enormously to reach your soul potential. When you become more sure of yourself you depend less on others and more on yourself. That is a great thing happening, to all of us.
I do not twitter, do you? Why should I twitter according to you?
You are amazing! Thank you so much- I’m feeling really empowered!
I do twitter. It’s fun. I think you might like it because you seem very interactive on your blog. It’s a great way to connect like-minded people.
Love,
K.
Happy for you that you feel empowered about the transit of Pluto. I will look at Twitter, although it sounds like taking up a lot of time … RW
Hello, dear Radiantwoman! What a wonderful blog and what the beautiful comments you give. All my compliments. Well, I started with my Pluto (natal 12th conj. ascendant) square Pluto (3th house) these days and this will last ’til the end of 2010. I also expect Saturn square Saturn from april to june 2009. An astrologer told me about three years ago, that year 2009 is “mine” – so I should make a good use of it. Maybe she said this because of Jupiter’s transit in my 5th house this year. Well still, my love (with her I have most wonderful harmonius love aspects – she is 28/1/1985 13:05 zagreb) and I broke up last year and I am still in pain because of it. She still wants to keep in touch with me although she has a new boyfriend (maybe because she’s an aquarius), but for me it’s unbearable… what shall I do? I’d like to start with her again, to renew our love from ashes, but is this possible under such heavy aspects? What shall I expect?
Thank you and best regards!

Hi Miriam and Everybody.
So great to see such an amazing discussion on Pluto sq. Pluto.
Miriam, you are absolutely right about your interpretation of what it would mean for me….that it is a case of me finding my own authority and following it. I’m finding the challenge of it emerging more and more in my work and my relationships with others. I’m even battling myself and making myself do things I never thought I could.
I am 3 months into my pluto sq. pluto, I have 9 months to go. I am curious to see who I emerge as on the other side. I’m getting an inkling that I will have a much stronger spine.
How far is everyone else into their pluto sq pluto and how have you been feeling about it?
@ yurij, thks for the praise, I indeed love the comments going on in this post and am glad to be of help and write down my two cents on your Pluto square Pluto.
You mention that your are three months into your Pluto square Pluto. I would like to clarify something technical to you. Your natal Pluto is 8 degrees Libra and today (Feb 3rd 2009) Pluto is at 2.degrees 20 Capricorn. Astrologers in general accept anywhere between 5 and 10 degrees as an orb, which is how much an angle made by two points differs from the exactness of an aspect. The square has a 90 degree. So if Pluto is 95,40 degrees apart, they would be said to be in a square with an orb of 5.40 degrees. It is generally held in astrological interpretation that when the orb is larger, the less powerful the aspect’s effect is. I take an orb of 5 or 6 degrees as a minimum orb and that would mean that your Pluto square Pluto transit begins when the orb is 5 degrees aka at 3 degrees Capricorn at March 2nd 2009, but it moves back and forth and goes out of the 5 degree orb for a couple of times even. Your transit will last a couple years like this and 22nd of January 2012 it will be exact and then slowly move away from the 5 degrees orb to the other side. (Have a look at the ephemeris of astro.com to see what happens in all those years). Ok that said now for the interpretation!
Your pluto square will trigger issues to do with looking after your self and how self confident you are to become. Clearly enough this will arise in the area of communication, since Pluto will transit your third house with Natal Neptune being present as well. You will have to look at new ways to communicate who you are. Watch your language, your words do really matter and indicate how much you respect yourself. This is a highly personal and intense transit and will definitely trigger a lot with you considering that natal Pluto is very near your ascendent. Indeed Saturn and its square will highlight this whole transit of Pluto as well. Big changes I would say.
As for your girlfriend and getting back together: I have no idea how that will work out during all these changes. Ii consider Pluto to be a great planet that does great work on letting go of old things no longer needed. You will change so much that when you look back in the year 2016 you will be amazed to see what happened. Work through this and you will be a different person needing a different relationship, your girlfriend and you will have to see what you both need and work from there. (I did not look at her chart.)
@Hi there again Lisa Simpson! I have found that quite a lot of people read here, leaving comments a little less …
I am happy for how you are doing and that you are getting a baby in nine months aka yourself in a different perspective. Did you find the link to receive all the comments on this post? Miriam
Hello everyone. Can anybody help me what this means. 0.45 degrees in SAG.
Hi Ala,
Sag is Sagittarius and 0.45 means that probably a planet is in the first degree of Sagittarius. If you look up your horoscope at astro.com you can find 12 houses and each has a piece of 30 degrees. Good luck RW
Hi, Miriam! Thanks for your kind reply, but I am little confused – on 24th of March 1973 Pluto was 3,03 Libra and my ascendent (Zagreb, Yugoslavia) was 4,48 Libra at 18.15. That’s how astroworld 2001 calculates..
So – I have to be entering Pluto square Pluto these days and under these calculations I will have Saturn square Saturn in between..
But still, as you said it – changes in my inner world and understanding of myself lead me (as it looks like) on a way to create a new “me” during this transit..
And, you know – there must be something in putting your pieces together, because I feel a strong urge to put my feet firmly on the ground in all areas of my life.
And there is really an important question going on my mind – what is that I deserve and what do I really want in relationships…
Please check Pluto ephemeris for 1973, if You have time..
Love and best regards,
Y.
So sorry Y.
I used the year 1975 which is incorrect. Indeed your Pluto is 3.03 Libra at astro.com however your ascendant is 5.05 Libra. Strange that the ascendant comes out differently. All the other details of you I triple checked.
So Pluto square Pluto transit has begun and will be exact on March 5th 2009. I did not check all the dates that the transit will be exact. You are apparently in the middle of the transit already.
The interpretation stays the same and is valid. As for your question on relationships that is a profound question. Since you are changing yourself you will notice your relationships and what you want to find in them to change with you.
bye Miriam
Dear Miriam!
Thank You very much. And thank you again.
I will let you know what happens with me..
Yours,
Y.
I stumbled across this site trying to figure out exact ramifications of “Pluto square Pluto” aspect because I had it till recently and now my soon to be ex-wife does. I have been having some absolutely crazy things happen to me and finally decided to check out astrological point of view. Am completely new to the science and am hoping to find out what exactly is happening because she had me forced out of the house and is filing for a divorce (and wants exclusive custody of our 3 small kids). My birth date is 20th May 1972 (Madras, India) and hers is 26th March 1973 (also Madras aka Chennai, India). Now my charts say that I have a Pluto Opposition Venus which also presumably is not going to make things any easier for me I guess. The more I am trying to search, the more I am becoming clueless and meditation/prayers are keeping me ambling along. Would really appreciate it if someone could shine a light on my travails.
Thanks.
SK.
hi Sk, I suggest you email me. I will tell you my emailaddress. take care. rw
Hi Miriam,
I actually didn’t find the link to get the posts but wandered back your site as I enjoy doing. I’m seeing all the new posts now and the fascinating differences in the Pluto sq. Pluto effects on people.
LOL…well….we’ll see how that nine months go. I’m just coming out from a Saturn sq. Saturn headlock and find the Pluto sq highlighted by it. I recently thought I was growing into my own authority but today was a major slip and I saw how insecure I come off to my co-workers. Not good at all.
I’m still trying but I kick myself really hard for everything I don’t get right. And then I let that affect my sense of self worth. Isn’t that the stupidest thing??
Sigh…work in progress
Miriam, I’m curious, how did this influence affect you?
Lisa
Hello there Lisa, work in progress
In the article near the end I write about my own experience. Have a look there so I do not need to retype it.
By the way: first I had Pluto in my 12th house during Pluto square Pluto, then it went over my ascendant and at the moment it is opposite my natal Sun. So if you do not find me posting on the weblog a lot, I do not know what is happening, only that I can make head nor tail out of it. It is life changing and the minute I think I am ready, I fall again into another Pluto adventure. Perhaps I will post about it, soon, to make myself understand what is happening and by sharing find more meaning for it.
take care Miriam
Hello Eskay,
Your Pluto at the time of birth is in your 6th house, 29 degrees Virgo and it is next to your descendant (DC). The dc can be seen as the relationship side of the horoscope. What kind of partner do you have and what partner suits you best, that is what the descendant indicates in short. You can investigate both the symbolism of the Virgo and the Libra yourself, since your descendant is so close to Libra, that influence is very strong.
Any way your Natal Pluto indicates that the sixth house (the house of service, being of service, health and also communication) is important. Your transformation comes in this area of your life and you are challenged to find the best way for you to be of service, without loosing yourself that is. Staying true to yourself is important. That rings true for everyone of us of course, for you when you are of service you have to be aware to not sell yourself short and take care of yourself right now. Being of service is meant to be fun, flowing and easy. If it is not you are probably feeling drained and horrid afterward. If you are suffering while being of service, you are not listening to what your soul is telling you: have fun and be of service, if not, move away.
At the time of birth you have a Mars and Venus that are close together in the fourth house of Cancer. I feel you are very fortunate to have that conjunction at that place. Mars can be seen as your energy, how you manage it and where you can get angry very easily. Venus is the symbol for beauty, the “feminine” side of things, perhaps intuition and the joy of life. What makes you happy and what do you enjoy? Both of them are in the sign of Cancer, in the fourth house of Cancer. This is a very feminine placement of Mars and Venus. Cancer is the sign of your soul, your inner peace, your inner world and taking care of you. When you feel very well you handle both your power and your joy very well. You then take time to listen to your soul and feel your feelings. This is not possible at all times since life will challenge you to a certain extent to grow further and further into the beautiful soul that you are and that you can become even more.
At this time your natal Pluto has moved on. When I take into consideration that your area of transformation is being of service and also that your Mars and Venus are close together and urging you to be very true of yourself, the following is interesting.
Your Natal Pluto is now in opposition with your natal Mars and Venus. So your transformation is coming in full contact with your inner soul and how you handle your energy, intuition and how you come into action. It is time to listen to your female side, the beautiful quiet voice that will speak to you through the joy that you feel. To take time to sit down and relax and let yourself be guided by what ever feels right on a soul level. When you have done that then your Mars energy can be used to follow up whatever feels right to do by taking action.
This is a pretty intense transit and will touch your whole being and will probably change you more than you expect. Cancerians often take care of all others first and forget about themselves. It is a sensitive sign that is easily hurt by others for instance, since you will tend to give out and the hurt lies in how other people react to you doing that. On the other side with Pluto in Capricorn, a sign of a goat high in the mountains, it is taking its time to feel what needs to be felt. It is your authority that can come forward into the world when it is based on feelings, intuition and that what makes your soul sing. That needs to be balanced out as indicated also by your Mars and Venus in the fourth house.
It is about you making sense of what is happening for you since both your male side as your female side are being affected. I can imagine that crazy things have happened and also that your wife forced you out of the house.
Your are to begin feeling on another level, take time for you and contemplate on your life and what you would like to have in it in the near future, both for you and your children.
Hi Miriam,
I hope you are well. I wanted to let you know some of my actual experiences so far with this transit.
Recently I realized that I have certain internal traits and habits that make me very inward and internal. I literally do not speak in a crowd because I fear rejection or being inferior. It’s a shock to me to realize how badly my inferiority complex has affected my performance at work and in meeting people.
I am therefore trying to adjust and make myself be more outgoing and sociable. I am also trying to make me see that I have a valid point of view and a right to express it. It seems so simple but growing up in my parents house damaged me more than I realize.
I realize it now. And as aptly described by you, I’m trying to grow into my own sense of self and power.
None of this is easy, but I am trying to face it.
Lisa
Work went explody in March! Pluto shifted into Capricorn, and started travelling towards my Mars, Mercury and midheaven conjunction. When it hits mars, it squares itself.
It’s not actually there yet, it’s still around 2deg at the end of the year, my mars is at 10deg Capricorn. But work’s already gone explody.
I’ve gone back to study for the first time since high school. Specifically to get the qualifications of the job i’ve been doing for the last eleven years. I saved up all year to pay for the damn uni fees, got in to a graduate diploma not based a uni degree, as is the usual way, but on the strength of my work experience in the field.
(I have a strong 10th house, and stronger mars – the only planets pluto won’t aspect as it makes it way through that sector of my chart is my sun and my moon!)
Two weeks before my first lecture – A sudden illness has left the running of my team at work to me.
I can’t give up the study, I’ve been gearing myself up to it for years. But sheesh, the ‘ok please run this now, and manage it with the other half of your team of two of sick half the time’
External pressures and just…deal with it…and I pretty much have been. It’s been bringing me praise and recognition as a matter of fact – but it was so damn sudden! And just when I’d committed myself to facing my study fears.
10th house here we come – sheesh!
Hi Jessica, You make me smile. Your words are full of life and I wish you a great 10th house ride!
Hello again,
Thought I’d give a bit of an update since Pluto is now well and truly on its way to square itself now, and to top it off I have a whole heap of big transits in my chart at the same time.
First up – my details (I was out a little in my recollection last post):
Sun 1 Aquarius
Moon 2 Pisces
Mercury 8 Capricorn
Venus 18 Pisces
Mars 15 Capricorn
Jupiter 21 Taurus
Saturn 14 Leo
Uranus 11 Scorpio
Neptune 15 Sagittarius
Pluto 14 Libra
Rising 2 Aries
Midheaven 2 Capricorn
Since writing this, I have since finished uni (with good marks), got an unexpected secondment for two and a half months in the middle of last year, to a department at work that I’ve always wanted to work in. But the secondment was a disappointment, both because they didn’t have any real work for me to do and were all too busy to guide me towards what they might want me to spend my days doing (I was really just keeping a seat warm it seems), and a year later, despite assurances that I did a good job while there, it well and truly seems that I managed to get most people off side while I was there (far from impressing the dept that I dreamed about working for!!). What the secondment *did* do, was make me realise that I have out grown the job that I’ve loved doing for the last seven years. That was all this time last year.
The time where I was left to hold down the team on my own (when I wrote this last entry, two years ago), also created tensions between my manager and myself – once again, despite her giving me praise for the work that I’d done. It seems she feels like I went behind her back with another member of staff that she’d been having problems with – when all I thought I was doing was my job… and things have never really been right between us since.
I used my uni time to write a proposal on how I would run the art gallery in the library that I work in by getting rid of the hire cost to the artist, but on the condition that we get our public to vote on which applications actually make it onto our walls as exhibitions…(think ‘So you think you can Dance’ for an art gallery, sort of) As I’m the daily operations manager of the space, but have to policy say, I couldn’t just take it directly to the people who’s final say it is, but have to go through my team management structure first. My manager took it on board, said she liked it, but that we’d reduce the hire cost of the gallery first and try for my proposal for the year after. A year passed, and I found a couple of arts grants that I could apply for to make my idea cost-neutral to the library, asked if I could apply for them, and was told ‘No, they’re happy with the way the gallery is going now, and am not interested in my proposal now at all’ – And so as far as work goes, I have to drop it now as I can’t leapfrog above the person who said no, to give it a proper airing to the team of people who would have final say. Needless to say that I’m bitterly disappointed about this, as I truly believe this proposal would have both created more interest in the art on our walls but also give our public complete ownership of the space – and I think that’s what we should be aiming for as a library.
That final say came through about two months ago now, and I’m now looking at ways that I might be able to take this idea to another space outside of work, as a personal project instead (yes, that’s how passionately I feel about it). It’s also apparent that I either need to leave my job or stop being passionate about work, cause its just driving me round the bend. I’ve also had a serious relationship break up two years ago, and have has a very intense friendship with a very needy person both develop (and just recently) explode, and have become very dissatisfied with my housemates as well…
But this year has also seen Uranus conjunct my ascendant, and for two months after that first hit last March I kept having unexpected encounters with Islanders (mostly Tongans)… in nightclubs, on public transport etc. Once every two weeks or so until four of them had added up over two months (plus Cainer quoting the Samoan date line change in my stars, having a volunteer position in Tonga pop up that I decided not to go for cause it was too hard – but all this in the same two month period!). Now I’m the type of person who attracts random conversations, but *never* with such frequency and *never* with such a theme! Combine that with the fact that I’m in Melbourne (which just doesn’t have that large in Islander population), and all of a sudden I’m asking the universe just what on earth its trying to tell me. I took the hint a little and decided to look for work in Auckland (NZ) which does have a large Islander population. Didn’t get the ‘perfect for me’ job which was advertised a week after I started looking (because I was the wrong race pretty much, they needed someone Maori but could quite say it outright in the ad. But I definitely impressed them in the first round interview)…
Came back to Melbourne, but decided while I’m in NZ that I want to take my three months long service leave as a campervan trip around NZ over summer…Which will be *this* summer… which is also the time that Uranus will make its last pass over my ascendant *at the same time* as Neptune leaving Aquarius to conjunct my Pisces moon!!! All of which Venus will make its own pass over while I’m there.
All I (desparately) hope for, is that this trip will present me with opportunties to shift my life from the stagnant place it’s in now!
Wow, can i just say that this blog if chocked full of some really great info. on the pluto square transit! Awesome!
I am currently having the pluto square going on and uranus transiting the 8th and the progressed moon transiting the 8th also, so its pluto all the way!! UGH! I am experiencing emotional purging and am being forced to take a look at and feel some of my deep inner impulses that I never knew existed…like my buttons are being majorly pushed. Pluto is squaring my 2nd house pluto from the 5th house, and also conjuncting jupiter in my 5th at 0 degrees cap, while uranus is conjuncting my venus in the 8th!!! I just reunited with a high school boyfriend on the internet..from a long distance. Its bringing up a lot of issues with me in terms of unrequited love, rejection, etc…like if he doesn’t call, or text, etc. It’s making me feel like I need to build a stronger sense of self within…stronger self love, self worth and self esteem and not rely upon others attention and love to satisfy that need in me to be “loved” or “worthy” or “loveable”. However, I am afraid of what is going to ensue when saturn and uranus join forces with pluto during the 2010-2011 t square…as this will set off my natal t square involving venus (8th) opp. pluto (2nd) and jupiter in the 5th being the focal point. Any thoughts?? My DOB is 2-7-1972 6:19 pm bethlehem, PA (northampton, co). Is this man going to do a number on me??
hi Kristine,
Yes it is interesting that an article on Pluto square Pluto written two years ago gets attention on the supposedly fast moving internet. I am happy that you found it and that you got something from it.
To make a long answer really short: I have no idea whether this guy is doing a number on you. Do you want that? Do you want to avoid it? From your comment I gather that Pluto is in your second house. That makes me think of safety and how security. It is a safe and good thing to keep your life as simple as you can. If the events in your life get complicated and choices are awaiting, delete as much as you can and return to life being simple. Enjoy your life with yourself as the center of it, return to love and step out from there.
I wish you all the best, have fun with Pluto and all the other planets and find a positive outlook on the events happening symbolically in the sky and practically in your life. Miriam
Dear Miriam,
Thank you for your lovely website! As we all know, Pluto has entered Capricorn and is for the next while going to be square my natal Pluto (late in the 12th house) and is approaching a conjunction with my natal Sun (in Cap.). on top of that, my natal Sun is opposite my north node down there at the bottom of the chart in the 3rd house. I’m also going to be entering my (12th house) Saturn return as of any minute now. That’s not even getting into Chiron, my other favorite change agent in the sky. It’s hard for me to make sense of all this information. It seems like A LOT of energy. Maybe it’s the Libra and Capricorn in me, but I want to do everything I can to make sure it comes out, well, the way I want it to. Do you have any opinions on this combination of stuff?
Thank you so much!
hi Nicole,
Thanks for the compliment!
First thought that comes to mind about what you write is that you might have to find a focus for the next couple of months. Will it be on that energy in the sky (that is working for you and a great future for you)? Or will it be about living the best way you can while events and experiences are coming into your life? That is your choice.
You will be challenged of course since apparently it is time for some new stuff in your life. Without seeing your horoscope I have this idea that the cross in the horoscope (1st house, 4th house, 7th house and 10th house) is influenced all at the same time. That would mean your ego, your home and family, relationship and work are being changed for better even when it will not look like that at all.
Find the quiet place inside yourself where your wishes and desires are born. Maybe through meditation or while taking a shower. When you can listen to that inner voice you will find a small or big step you can take to move forward. The events will happen anyway and your feelings will be your compass to guide your ship to the best possible shore.
Have a great trip, Miriam
I am profoundly thankful for this blog. Cannot describe what a relief I feel just reading it.
I am experiencing my Pluto square Pluto time of life…and feel compelled to share few traits. Would like to receive your input, even if only 2 sentences. I would deeply appreciate it.
My natal Pluto is in (12 house in 5Libra) and tr Pluto started approaching its square at about (29Sag – 1Cap in my 3 house) in November 2008. That is actually where my North Node is and Venus is in (2Cap) too. Also, my Saturn is conjunct the South Node. Exactly at that time my long term pending immigration situation finally got resolved. To this time, because of the restrictions in my status, I was working on a job that I practically hated for 5 years! I have 3 MA degrees and this was retail sales job. But, I was the best in it, which was weird…Instead of changing it right away though, I stayed there because of my lazyness and the convenience.
When tr Pluto was 2degrees away from the exact square I took a month vacation and went back to my country for the first time in 6 years, the longest separation from the job and my husband ever. It was a transforming experience. I reconnect with a part of myself that had completely gone missing, the strong part of me, the one that is more real, that I have, for some reason, allowed to get molded and crushed even. Than I came back, in a way… a different person. I literally couldn’t stand the job and what do you know, one of the best employee in the company (me) got fired in no time (tr Pluto + tr Moon conjunct Venus exact, square Pluto, opp. Saturn)…felt hurt because of the way they did it, but at the same time I am happy not be at that place anymore.
…And tr. Pluto hasn’t reached the exact square to n. Pluto yet.
There are a lot of changes coming into my life. Sometimes I feel scared, panicked, insecure… My relationship is not what I want it to be. Have thought of ending it. We both were thinking of moving to a diff. city. … I don’t know what I want to do in my life. It’s been so long since I was working as a counselor. Looks like I’ve lost myself. I want to paint and write, but don’t do it. Did it for while, was very good in it, but stopped, because of my husband…Trying to find a job now, but get discouraged pretty easy. It seems crazy hard. Started studding astrology a year ago…doing some body work… Feel vary compelled to deal with with spiritual stuff, whatever that means, which is gonna be the end of my marriage for sure:).
Exciting times I should say. It’s like my world (from the last 6-7 years) is disappearing and I am so confused…Doesn’t seem like believing in myself too much, ha.
I read your comments on one of the posts (the guy with Pluto in Libra in 12) and it resonates. …
thank you very much
Ok, two sentences then
My first gut feeling for you is to listen to what makes you sing. Do you feel like painting, make time for it! Follow what makes you feel joy bubbling up from inside of you. This life is meant to be enjoyed you now, also if you find it hard to believe that.
As for timing and postponing in your life: most of the time we know that we have to make a decision to leave people, jobs, countries or houses alone. However then we begin o hesitate about it and postpone the decision. That is perfectly alright at the time. However over time you will begin to notice that you are no longer in the flow as you were before. then it is time to sit down and make the decisions when you are truly ready for them. As 12 th house Pluto symbolism indicates:your inner life is rich and will make you aware of feelings when you take time to listen to that inner life. When you keep busy for instance, the feelings will be shoved aside very easily. With your Pluto square Pluto it is certainly time to begin listening to the inner feelings and then communicate them to yourself! Ie write down your dreams, your feelings and look at what they tell you. Does that make sense?
Thank you, Miriam
It makes perfect sense. When I read your answer, tears came up my eyes. I guess there is a lot inside that needs to come out. I am making tiny bitty steps now, but am surprised how much resistance that one part of myself is giving me…It’s crazy. It feels like a constant battle for first caching and than saving the real me, and not sacrificing it.
I guess also because n.Pluto is squaring my Nodes, n. Saturn (9h), n. Venus (3h) and opposing n Moon (6h) wide orb, which is conjunct Chiron (6h) very close to DC it sure feels like roller coaster. The funny thing is that 2 weeks ago I went to Six Flags with friends and for the first time in my life tried on 4 roller coasters and barely survived the rides. Did not like it at all. I hope I do better with Pluto… Ppfffff.
hi Kamelia
I picture you doing 4 roller coaster rides, well then you can do Pluto in a breeze! Stay with your feelings in the moment. When something seems tough, withdraw inside and ask yourself “What do I want now with this?” There is no need to be in a battle. Deals with things with tiny bitty steps as you wrote above. You will be fine girl. Many people have gone before you and are happy that they went through the experiences. My hugs for you. RW
Just finding out about Pluto square Pluto. It has been so difficult, disappointing those I love & going at it alone. I will take your advice on asking my friends and family for patience. I do fear what I really want, as if I am not enough or I am too old for them. Needing to write down all the untrue things I think of myself. I have many self deprecating habits that I have a difficult time letting go of. I am in a marriage to some one I love, but it is feeling like it has come to it’s end of growth and at the same time in love with a man I barely know! I created a life I do not feel at home in. I haven’t yet had the children I always wanted. But through this I am realizing the hopes, needs I have for my relationships, but afraid it is pie in the sky. I also have new interests that I am overwhelmed by starting, such as astrology & empathic abilities. I am struggling to put together a picture of myself now. Any insight would be helpful. I was born april 22, 1972 9:31 am
Summer holiday has completely taken over all my time.
Sorry that i did not respond earlier to your comment.
I do not know if something has changed in your situation, could you let me know how you are doing so that I respond to what is going on today?
Dear Radiantwoman
My dob detail is 14 Oct 1974 at 15 20 pm Lucknow India. I came across a situation where I found that I would be experiencing a pluto square pluto in transit in the coming time. My Natal chart pluto is in sign Virgo in 7th with conjunction to moon. It would be kind of you if you pls shed some light as to how this would be encountered and that what necessarily should I do to encounter it so that my sufferings should lessen. I would be very thankful and greatful to you.
Thanks and Regards
Hi astrofriend, welcome on my weblog!
I would kindly request of you to read my article on Pluto in your horoscope first. I can talk for ages about what is going on in your horoscope so please indicate where you need some guidance. With love RW
Dear radiantwoman,
Thanks a lot for replying my post. I am scared of the the thing. Currently I am struggling to get settled in my profession, with almost no work or direction to proceed. Currently two issues are haunting me. One is this and other that I have experienced a horrifying recent past ie. the year 2007 mid to 2008 mid, where I lost the whole of my social prestige, friends and finance. Lots of enemies emerged out all of sudden. Right now things and situation are bit under control. Just wondering that any such repetition would be happening again of the events. I would be very thankful and obliged if you provide some insight and guidance on the issues.
Thanks and Regards
Dear Radiantwoman,
My dob is 14 Oct 1974, time of birth is IST 13:20 hrs, place is Lucknow India 26N51, 80E55. As I could see that in my chart my Pluto is likely to enter the 10th cusp in my chart. originally it is placed in conjunction with moon in the 7th cusp. I would like to have your great insight on the issue, as I am suffering a lot in financial and career and almost directionless. Pls help.
Hi Miriam,
I just wanted to post an update of my experiences with pluto square pluto. THe transit officially ends at the end of November 2009 so 2 and a half months to go. Since it started last year I list a have been in an awful job that I left and then found out I was bad-mouthed and blamed for things that were not my fault. Then I was unemployed for 7 months until late last year when a former colleague got me his old job. The short point is that that job was a nightmare, I was underminded, underappreciated and thought to be incompetent no matter what I did.
I was fired from that job last week. I am hurt but I guess I did see something like that happening. I have grown up I think but my soul feels really wounded and I am exhausted.
I know that job was bad for me and just helped me accomplish a particular goal. Now I have to face being unemployed and not knowing when I will get a job. I have learnt a hell of alot from this. I am curious to see how it will assist me in my new job, whenever I get that.
Pluto also ripped my family from me. My parents are in turmoil after it was discovered that my Dad has been seeing a prostitute for the past 9 years and has practically given her all of my parents life savings. My parents have been visiting for the past 3 weeks at the same time that I have been struggling with long hours of work for a Court deadline. It’s all come down at once and I feel so drained.
Pluto is brutal but I see how it works, it rips the band-aid off and it’s not pretty.
[...] What is Pluto square Pluto? [...]
I just found your article about this transit and I have to say that I could relate to everything you were expressing. I’ve been going through Pluto (12th) squaring my Sun (8th) and I am now about to enter my Pluto square Pluto transit, alongside Pluto squaring my Sun! Natal chart has Pluto in Libra (9th house), and Pluto will be transiting from the 12th, so I found your experience of this transit particularly personal. In the last eight months, it feels like my world has been turned upside down completely. I thought I knew exactly which direction I was heading in, only to find that I was on the wrong path completely. I left a postgraduate course because I came to realize that it wasn’t right for me anymore, and now I have no idea where I’m heading. It feels as though I’ve reached a nadir, and am having to rebuild from the ground up but I don’t know where to begin. I’m out of work too, and have been spending alot of time by myself in what feels like an eternal spell of hibernation (Pluto in my 12th, no doubt). Just as you expressed in your personal experience of this transit, I’m finding it really difficult to come to terms with going from an active person to a being person. I’ve always had something on the burner, always been working toward something, and now I find myself in this strange sort of void, like I’m in suspended animation. I wish I knew how best to deal with this. It’s not just my life direction which has taken a hit either–seems every aspect of my life has been turned upside down (relationship, friendships, etc). Thanks for sharing your story. It’s so comforting to hear of someone experiencing this transit and coming out the other side.
Hi Mina, your transit sounds a lot like my transit, I bet it was personal and reminded you of your own. “Suspended animation”, wow that is a way of putting your situation really clearly. I am at the other end of the transit and I know that you will work your way through it. Work on sitting down, listening and looking at what is going on in your life. What is happening right in front of you and what is the divine telling you to do? That is a learning process and a fun one may I point that out too! A period in your life where the doing for the sake of doing is being taken away so that you can begin to be and from there start to do things. But now in a different way from before, more in tune with who you are in a given moment and leading you to a better world for you and therefor for the people around you. Many colorful greetings and wishing you all the best. RW
Dear Miriam, amazing all your work here and answering all these questions…at first i didn’t want to ask because you have so many things to answer…
but i’m so curious as to what you would say…
i have been studying astrology for a long time but have a hard time being objective when i look at my own chart…
I have 0 degree libra ascendant…natal pluto is conjunct my asc. at 4 degrees.. born june 1st 1974
so recently i went through pluto square my asc. which was really beautiful and amazing…. but brought someone into my life where there are unconscious power struggles happening…the more i try to avoid it the more it seems to happen…but it is teaching me to be authentic and true to myself…
now pluto is squaring pluto while T saturn is conjuncting my ascendant and natal pluto….. T pluto is also opposing my natal saturn and mercury and mc it’s almost doing something to everything~
and soon uranus will come around and will transit accross into my 7th house in this march…as it does that it will oppose my natal pluto and my asc..square my saturn and do a huge number just like pluto is about to do~
so like everyone has said i too am dealing with loneliness and all of that but i know deep down all of this will only make me wiser and stronger if i can let go and surrender to the process….
sometimes i have a hard time figuring out what this line up is asking of me…..
of course i would rather relinquish everything by choice than have it painfully stripped away… but i know accepting loss is not the only lesson here…
what would you say would be the ultimate lesson from these stars..
Ciao Mira, no worries about asking questions here. It is my small contribution to the life of others and I even love doing it.
As for you, of course we are biased about our own chart. that is perfectly normal.
It is interesting to see how your whole chart is pointing at change and indeed letting go and trusting the process. Remind yourself every day that you are doing fine, yes you are truly doing fine. Every day you are getting better and better at letting go and trusting the process. You will need to look around you very well and perhaps write down all these things that are happening to guide you forward. We are so busy living life that we tend to forget all the good things happening around us. Become aware of your own progress, blog about it, write it down so you can see it when your ego is doing the nagging to keep you from change, again.
Yes, we are all lonely at times, but we are never alone. By that I mean that we are always in the care of something bigger than ourselves, something that will guide us to where we need to be. If you miss directions it does not really matter. Direction will be given again and again until you arrive at a place that is better for you.
Use the void to make space in your house and in your life. Throw away or give away things that no longer belong in your life. Welcome the space and begin to dream about what you long for in your upcoming life. RW
Hi, I am so glad to have found this website…I was born on Feb. 27th 1974 in Courtenay BC Canada at 8:32am
I have spent the past year going through incredible changes, divorced, sold our house just as the market crashed, ongoing custody battle over our 4year old, was laid off so I changed jobs , I had to deal with some health issues for the first time in my life…I thought that was enough…now I’m coming into my pluto square pluto and getting worried…so much has transformed for me in the past year…I so ready for positive stability…I try to keep a positive outlook despite the chaos, but I’m still trying to make sense of the bigger picture…any insights???
Hi Kai, Wow born in Courtenay, that must be near Nelson somewhere. I loved that area.
Anyway, by what I read in your comment you have already been dealing with the prelude of Pluto square Pluto. This transit is not something that starts and end within a year. Its influence is felt over a longer time.
Your natal Pluto is in the sixth house and the transit is hoovering over the 9th. So your work and you being of service in the world is influenced heavily. You could look at my article Pluto in the houses, also on the weblog here.
Maybe the best advice I can give you is: take care of the details in your life and keep up the positivity. The bigger picture will take of itself and will let you know what it wants when you are ready. You are always at the right place doing the right thing: being YOU. Blessings RW
Hi there,
I am so glad I found this page, my partner and I were discussing how he has Pluto Sq. Pluto coming up next year around the time our first child is due to be born. His Pluto is natally in the 10th ruling the 12th. His Father has recently been diagnosed with a prostate illness which is not sounding good and his grandfather’s health is slowly declining, could this be what the transit indicates.
What would you say in general with this transit affecting these two houses the 10th and 12th? Any advice would be appreciated. THanks
Susan.
hi Susan and partner,
Both your partners father and grandfather are ill at this time in his life. I am sorry to hear about that.
What comes to mind concerning your question on the 10th and 12th is the terminology: natural authority. This belongs in the symbolic meaning of the 10th house and could be seen as paternal relationships too. Your partner is becoming a father and will find his natural way to be with his coming child(ren). This to me feels like a prelude to what Pluto square Pluto might effect in your partners life. As for the 12th house that for me has to do with the intuition and how in tune your partner is with the spiritual side of himself. Becoming a parent is a great way to find that out.
Thank you so much for your sensitive and helpful reply. Much appreciated
I like your blog and it’s easy for me to understand even with my lack of knowledge in the astrological field! Thank God for google translations as well!
I´m not born in any of above mentioned years, but I believe I am in a period of pluto square pluto? First house… It worries me a bit, so I was glad to read the ending of your blog above.
My birthdata: 10′th of July, 1974, Sundsvall Sweden
With Love / Mirja
hi Mirja, yes you are having a Pluto square Pluto indeed.
Do not fear it, that is not necessary. You will grow through the experience. RW
Thank you for the wonderful blog! I love this about the internet, how we can reach out and share information and support each other.
It was recently pointed out to me that I am in my Pluto square Pluto transit, with Saturn square Saturn coming up. The past year has been filled with heightened sensitivity (panic, anxiety, depression). It certainly has affected the way I live my life (driving, work, relationships). Recently I began network chiropractic to help with severe neck pain I was having. It has turned into deep emotional work. I’ve been really trying to unravel deeply held beliefs and past wounds with alternative therapies (chiro, acup., counseling) this past year. It’s been a great way to connect with the local healing community…Strangely though I feel like I’m in a holding pattern rather than having the deeper release I might expect. Some days I feel I’m in a haze or so overly sensitive to my environment that I just need to stay home. The mental stuff is no fun! My memory and energy levels have taken a nose dive. My natal Pluto is in the 6th house with the transiting Pluto in the 9th. I have aspirations to start up a healing eco-tour company but feel thwarted by health and in turn confidence concerns. When you have the time, I’d love any insights you have on my chart. Apr. 2nd 1974, 7:28am, Oregon City, OR. Thank you! ~Amy
Just an update on my ongoing Pluto Sq. Pluto. It has been more than a year since it has started. nPluto in 12 (Libra) squered by tr. Pluto trough 3rd house, going back and forth over Venus and the NN, also opposing natal Saturn (9 house). WIll be having NN return next year.
Lost my job, which I hated anyway. Got fired. The event scared me a lot, because I was afraid of what my husband’s gonna say. I was also frustrated with the unberable hardship of trying to find a job with no success. ALthough financially this situation was not a problem. since the state approved me for Unemployment Benefits (my SR sun and Venus this year are in 8h) and I did find a little part time job too, I felt so lost, so not on the right place. I was sitting home all day, without being able to get myself to stand up and just wash the dishes from last night’s dinner. I would stay on the computer all day, listening to my favorite long ago forgoten music, finding a new one I like, looking at different forms of art, browsing..reconnecting with long, loong forgoten friends, day dreaming, recollecting old memories of times when I was happy with a job I liked and relationships I liked. I was … in a dreamy void, feeling absolutely uncapable of acting…(my SR ascendent this year is in Pices, and Neptun in the 12th house) . Felt like a shadow, without being able to find out who is the person casting it.
My husband did not like me at that time. He got disappointed that I cannot find a job, he would work his way through my self esteem, my worth… There was no emotional support what-so-ever. On top of it, he was very disappointed also that I am “looking at the stars” and was ashamed of me being interested in astrology. Not that I had any illusions that he will understand the fact that I need this time , and the confusion and the luck of energy if you will, so I can get back in touch with myself… But even without his contribution, I was feeling so lost, in a glass bowl…like a fish, that is trying to talk, but nothing comes out.
Towards the end of Feb.2010 I knew not too much about myself and where I am going. But knew for sure, that I am through with him. I was long fed up with the city I lived in too. Explored an opportunity to go live in Montreal – didn’t work out. Still – no job. Haze. Considered the posibility of going back to my country of origin. Even organized a class reunion.
Here comes June. And the dice roll in. In no time, I receive a call to start a new job in a beautiful town in a different state. My husband goes to his country for 3 months. I had to pack and move by myself with so little help in 10 days. The stress , the physical work, the complications along the way and the fears I went through were enourmous. The bed thing is, I turned into a chain smoker, tryiing to release the pressure.
tr Uranus conj. tr Jupiter in the 6h, opposing n Pluto and squaring the Nodes.
As of now, I live by myself in a beautiful place (apt. ,town and state). My work is very detail oriented and it takes a lot of me. I had many many problems trying to settle in, calling places, establishing services…what not. I am taking tough classes at the same time and sleep 4-5 hours a night (which is extremly not enough for me). Still cannot believe what happened.I am crazy active, detail oriented (that may also have to do with the fact that my progressed Moon just hit 1 degree Virgo and is in 10 house of my SR chart in a triangle configuration with Uranus in the 1st and Mars in the 6th) , deal with life on my own…recovering my true self (which has been burried for about 7-8 years)…and waiting to deliver the good news to my husband that I will be separating from him. Very tired…, but starting to feel little spikes of happiness.
I know the transit is not over yet. And I know I still have a lot of work to do… But… I started getting it…you know…Pluto!
PS apologize for the long post.
Hi Kamelia,
I appreciate your long post! I am getting reacquainted with Astrology after an absence and it is really helpful to follow your story with all of the examples of aspects you’ve given. I first connected with Astrology at the age of 10 and have gone through intense periods of study and then put it down again. As time goes on I realize how impressionable my planets in the 12th house are (Sun, Chiron in Aries & Merc. in Pisces)…I will put MY interests down to join what is going on around me (i.e. boyfriends, friends) so unless I find that connection through them I find myself distracted or if I REALLY get focused on something. I’m back for now!
I can relate to the soul searching, going over the past to find old parts of yourself–happy parts. I too have been in this phase. Feels very ‘retrograde’. I’m now coming to realize that while I do want some of those feelings from the past again, I need to let them go to provide space for new happiness to come in. I’m trying to learn how to do that very thing now. Meanwhile I feel I’ve been psychologically stretched to my limits with stress, change, and self-analysis. On a mission to restore vital health! tPluto (9th) square nPluto (6th), tSaturn (6th) square nSaturn (3rd)–leaves virgo today, yay! tSaturn will soon conjunct nPluto in the 6th. tNeptune just leaving conjunction with nVenus in 11th. Relationship, work, home are all up for transformation.
I wish you the best Kamelia on your new course! It took a lot of courage and listening – trusting yourself to get where you are. May you find happiness! Thanks for the post, I’d love to hear more in the future.
Dear RadiantWoman
I’m really happy I found this site, it’s really good!!
I’m from Portugal, although I was born in England. I just found that I’ll have pluto transiting in my 1st house in capricorn squaring my natal pluto in the 9th house in libra. I’m worried… My life is always changing (sun in the 8th!) and since recently I think I’m having more stability, I feel more confident… I’m a cancer, asc. sag. and moon in cap.
I would really appreciate if you could give me some advise on how this square 1st/9th will be.
Thanks a lot and congratulations for the excellent site!
Raquel
(22 July 1975, 18h15, Northampton, England)
@Raquel
Happy that you found my site and some comfort to deal with the transit. Life is forever changing indeed!
I think your transit will be an exciting one. First house (your sense of self both inside of you as how you project yourself in the world) and ninth house (traditionally the area of the horoscope for travel and higher learning) go very well together. I guess experiences might come forward to show you who you have become. Leave behind what no longer serves you right and enjoy yourself. Take care, Miriam
Thank you so much!
I feel more relieved now!! All the best & Happy New year!!
Raquel xxx
I wish you a wonderful 2011. Thank you for sharing your relief. Leave a comment, if you like, in the future, when Pluto is over and done with.
I have the following pluto transits coming up and would like some insight if you have any…thanks!
Pluto transiting 9th house and conjunct your Sun in 9th house also
Transiting Pluto in 9th house square to Natal Pluto in 6th house
Ciao HerbGoddess, The same holds true for you as what I just wrote to Raquel: travelling, meeting new people and broadening your horizon are important for you at this time in your life. The sixth house (focus lies here on living healthy and as I would put it, listening to your soul) will show you how to remain true to who you are. While travelling our comfort zone is no longer available and this makes up for exciting new adventures. Have fun and let me know how you do. Miriam

por favor que me va a ocurrir cuando sea este transito y en que aspecto de mi vida se va a notar esto.

hola bon dia Blanca,
I will write in English. Thanks for your details about your birth. Understand that Pluto is an interesting time in your life to release old habits and move into a new mode of living. Your fifth house (how we express ourselves and show our personal way of looking at things in for example our clothing, our style of living) will be challenged. It is time to reconnect with others from this deep knowing inside of you. I wish you lots of luck
I’m currently finishing my Pluto Square which lasted for nearly a year because of Pluto going Retrograde in Capricorn (4th House) being square to my natal Pluto in Libra (1st House) as well as being square to a transiting Saturn in both Virgo (12th House) and Libra (1st House) during it’s own forward and retrograde phases this past year which was also conjunct by Natal Pluto.
It was really crazy during the Grand Cross in August.
A lot of meditation, relaxation exercises, studying the Law of Attraction got me through it.
Hi astrology!
Good of you to stop here. My astrology pieces used to be well hidden but they keep coming back since people keep posting here.
I am curious what you had happening in your life. Can you see in retrospect that your sense of self and your emotional side have benefited from this transit? Let me know, it might help others posting here as well.
Hi
Enjoy your beautiful website and information you provide us with. Thank you so much.
My son has Pluto at 6 Libra, I have Pluto at 6 Leo both in our third house.
Could you please help me by explaining how I can best deal with this aspect please and just how it works in our relationship. He still lives at home and sometimes our relationship can be difficult.
Thanks again
tes
Hello tes,
MMM, I do not quite understand what you are writing. Can you specify where exactly the Pluto was at the time of birth and where it is at the moment, for both of you? I will then place a comment for you again.
you’re welcome
Hi again,
I just left a comment because I have a pluto square pluto transit coming up (peak date in November) and if I remember correctly my moon will enter the eigth house.
Actually, things in my life are barely working at the moment. I’m overqualified and undervalued in my job. My personal life is less than settled ( I have a strange infatuation with a man which feels at times like out and out illusion) and I’m worried about my mother – my only remaining relative. Healthwise, I had strange swellings of various glands the past two years.
I do feel stuck – but I really wonder how things should ever fall into place…is this a good moment to make a career change? Or should I just watch how things will unfold? Is it a time to get proactive ?
Any thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated?
Thanks,
Charlotte
Hi,
I’m interested of what can I expect more as when of the first T Pluto made square of N Pluto I lost my job. My N Pluto in at the end of the 1st house, T Pluto in 4th. At that time I also had T Saturn conjunct N Pluto. Pluto square Pluto will again happen in Dec 2010 and I’m wondering what else could it bring? My mother is helping me financialy now cause I’m single.
Born 1st September 1974, 6am in Maribor, Slovenia
Thank you!
Eva
So your Pluto at the time of birth is in the first house and your Pluto is now in the fourth house? That to me indicates that your sense of self will get to dance with the emotional side of you. How do you feel about yourself and how much credit do you give yourself? Life will probably throw you back into a roller coaster of events that will trigger your ego big time and you will have to learn to dance through life while listening to how you feel at the same time. I wish you strength and perseverance and I am positive that you will get out of it while being in a better position and feeling better about yourself. How about trusting your feelings and remaining true to yourself at the same time! Wow. Think about the bigger picture as well when you feel down and blue. It is a positive experience to cleanse yourself. With love RW
Dear Radiant Woman
Thanks so much for your reply. Good news!
I feel more relieved now!!
I wish you a very Happy Christmas and a New Year full of light and love!!
Raquel x
I also wish you a very happy Christmas and an astrologically happy splendid 2011.
So silly I am sorry… I already replied before.. my head!
Thanks a lot for everything!! Raquel xxx
It’s the beginning of a new year, for all of us. The first day of this year that I am by myself, and finally looking for some answers, explanations, or directions. That is how I found your site, and this is why I am replying.
My pluto-square-pluto began in March ’10, and it will remain to affect my life and those around me until October ’12. “Yay!”, I say.
I did not realize what is going on until today, though I began to see rapid changes as of April ’10, one after another, just like that. I thought I was starting to lose ground under my feet as things were developing so rapidly. In April I suddenly lost my beloved pat, who fell gravely ill for no apparent reason. A month later I lost my job, I was laid off, though I was one of the top performers. In June I had a medical emergency, though I’ve always been in the best health… At the same time, without thinking twice I decided to completely change my career and to go for an industry that I never thought I’d be part of. For the past 7 months I’ve been studying on my own and making progress in the field that I never felt any inclination towards. In the meantime I experienced more health issues that are completely new, and if it weren’t to my husband and his support, I’m not sure how I’d be able to get through. It feels as if I’m not the same me anymore, I’ve already changed for 180 degrees. The changes so far have been for better, I’m positive, but I’m still sceptical towards what the future may bring, until this negative influence is over.
Any thoughts, or comments?
I see that you went through radical changes yourself, that at the time seemed to have no explanation or reason for it.
I wish you a happy New Year, and all the best.
N.
Thank you for leaving a comment Natasha. Your story is one more story that confirms what Pluto is about and especially the Pluto square Pluto transit. 180 degrees is quite an effort if you think about how hard it is to change people and their behavior in general. I understand that you see the influence as negative. After so many stories from others I have begun to look at Pluto as the best planet available for transformation. It speaks to us in a way that other planets do not. Even when Pluto has now been degraded and is no longer a planet. After my own Pluto square Pluto transit (which happened in the 12th house) my Pluto then traveled over the ascendant position into the first house. It is now, years later, that my life seems to fall back into place. I have survived a divorce, then the father of my kids decided to join a guru and moved away. I have been a single mother of two kids (under the age of eleven) ever since. The ride has been very tough. And you know what? I am finally beginning to understand how necessary it was that I changed my life. So, could you tell me in which house Planet was at the time of birth and in which house it is now, during the transit? I will then go into a little more detail and try to give you a general picture of the whole process. Happy new year to you as well.
Sent an email to private address. I wish you a great summer!
Thank you for your interest in looking into my ‘Dear Pluto’ situation, as I cynically call it.
At the time of my birth Pluto was located in Libra in 2nd House, and as of now, it is in Capricorn in 9th House.
I’ve done some basic reading online, and if I was able to interpret these transitions right, as I’m not an expert, then it seems to be rather interesting. I found that Pluto transition through the 9th house influences immigration, education, and second marriage, aside from changes in one’s religious beliefs, which does not affect me no matter what.
All of the above is indeed true, as in that period I got married 2nd time, my husband’s immigration got resolved, and I began to study. All the changes that do not happen every day, or get resolved over night.
Now, in addition to the transition, I’m not sure what Pluto square Pluto does, but it has not been pretty, or fun.
If you can shed some light and say that it is not all that bad after all, I would highly appreciate it. Thank you for your time Miriam.

‘Dear Pluto situation’, I might use that expression in the future, wonderfully found! I am curious for your birth details, for what you state about Pluto cannot happen in a life time. Pluto takes 248 years to travel through 12 houses. From you statement that Pluto was in the second house and now in the ninth, it means that you would have to be around age 124!! The signs seem to be alright though.
Could you please clarify this and look at your horoscope again for the houses?
Sorry to cause so much work for nothing.
I was born in Nuremberg, Germany, on September 14, ’74, at 3:26am.
Now I am not even sure if my horoscope is correct?! I know I am not 124 years old, that I can confirm.
Does this info help?
Thank you again,
The ‘Dear Pluto situation’
No problem, mistakes are made everywhere!
So your Natal pluto was in the second house of Libra (6th degree), it is now in the 5th house in Capricorn. So from birth you are looking at how much you value yourself. Learning to look at what you feel is true and turning less and less to others to find what it is that you need for you. The fifth house is the symbol for creativity and fun, showing yourself in the world. Being curious like a child. I can see that with some work done on your self worth in this past, this transit could boost your self presence. How comfortable can you be with yourself and then keep on living in the world with others? Libra as a sign tends to avoid conflicts with others and Capricorn tends to worry and fret over others and events happening. (very short and very general description, mind you! I just try to clarify and make an overgeneralisation here. Remember that your life is what you make of it, no matter where the starsigns are.) These two characteristics might bother you one way or another at this point in time. You could read up on astro.com, for example, and inform yourself about behaviour that is bothering you and work slowly at improving your self confidence. By the end of 2011 you will reap your rewards. Positive about that one!
Thank you for taking time to look it up, and to give your opinion! I appreciate clearing up for me what is going on, as for sure I’ve been feeling that something’s been shaking up my world. Every certain thing that used to be 100% there, every day, is no longer existing, and everything’s been changing. As a Virgo you can only imagine how hard it is for us to change our habits and let go what we believe is just perfect. But, knowing that things will improve, and improve soon, is a good thing to know.
Thank you!!
Natasha
Hi,
I will soon be having Pluto Sq. Pluto transiting my 2 house, also affecting my 1st house since I am a Scorpio Ascendant.
My natal Pluto resides in the 11th house.
So far I have analysed that it is affecting my finances since I have had my child last year in April, I basically have no income, my partner works full time and we have a joint account, but this has been hard for me to get accustomed to as I always had my own money.
I have accepted it pretty well in many ways though probably thanks to Neptune Sq. My Sun and Mercury as my Sun and Merc are both 29deg Taurus.
But I was just wondering if in your opinion the effect to my 1st house would be anything more than what I am experiencing now, being a stay at home mum with my first child, means that my life has changed a fair amount.
We moved from the inner city to about 20mins out of town, so there has been a change in my usual activities in some ways. I am at home a lot more than I used to be.
Just wondering on your opinion of this transit.
So, your natal Pluto is 11th house, sign unknown
Transit Pluto is 2nd house, sign unknown
With these details, I would say that from birth the area of your originality and creativity is highlighted. With the transit your way of being, and especially your uniqueness, are under reconstruction so to speak. What have you taken from the first part of your life and how much of your uniqueness is already implemented in your life. The second house is traditionally the house of valuess. What values are now working for you? You can easily see the relationship between your uniqueness and your values. Perhaps it would be a good exercise to investigate what values you hold and how that relates to the people in your life, where you live, your relationship with partner and child, and so on. Lots of fun with Pluto during the coming transit.
Hi ,
Just to clarify I have Pluto in Libra transiting the 2nd house and natal Pluto is in Scorpio in the 11th, does that help to clarify anything…
When you say ‘lots of fun with Pluto during the coming transit” what do you mean???
Yes, I understand in what sign Pluto, your natal Pluto, is. Thank you for clarifying that.
When I say “lots of fun with Pluto”, my intention is to say it with a wink. Many people look at Pluto, and especially the Pluto square Pluto transit, as a burden and a terrible time. With my post here I try to show another side to Pluto.
That it is like the snake that sheds the skin. A necessary transit to provide you with a better version of yourself. That is fun, although it might not feel like that at the time. Feel what you feel and keep your focus on the future you as well.
Bye RW
Sorry, I meant to say that I have Uranus in Scorpio not Pluto in Scorp.
My natal Pluto is in Libra. Sorry to be confusing.
Thank you for your insight.
Blessings to you.
Dear radiant woman,
I’m currently experiencing Pluto transit from the 4’Th house to the 1’st (natal chart). It’s like hell broke loose, both physically and mentally. Can you advise what benefit can I extract from this experience?
Thank you
Dan
This might feel like hell broke lose? It is all right to be upset when things do not seem to work out. Try and relax as much as possible. Realise that you are at the right place at the right time. It is time to realise who you are in the midst of the Pluto experience that is going on around you. Be aware of how the strength of who you are is living inside of you, to trust on the feelings that come to you when you sit down and relax. The fourth house might challenge your feminine side, how to trust those feelings and to stay true to yourself. Make a habit of staying in touch with your “inner child”, or if that kind of terminology does not suit you, find your strength within. Focus on that. If you are not sure about what direction to take, do nothing and wait. Most things clear up by themselves any way. It is a time of discernment, what is important and what is not?
Hang in there, take care Dan. RW
My boyfriend has transit Pluto square Pluto now. His natal Pluto is in the 5th house in Libra and now it is in the 9th house in Capricorn. He has behaved very strange recently. Could I expect a break up? I don’t know should I let him to go or help him staying with him. I love him. He was born 20.12.1973.14h40min Zrenjanin,Serbia
Please help me deciding what’s the best approach.
Leta, first of all, listen to your heart and what resonates with you. Perhaps you can begin to have a look in your own horoscope and your challenges at this time. That would be the place to start. Take care of yourself and take time to listen to what you feel about what is going on. If something feels right, then make a step in that direction. IF something feels wrong to you, then move away from it. If you do not know, then wait and see.
hi
I was born on 15.09.1975 at 8.40am. I’ve already been through two disastrous (to say the least..) relationships over the past two and a half years, plus health and job problems – in short, I feel exhausted. I just found out that from end March 2011 – Mid January 2013 pluto squares pluto. Didn’t know anything about this but doesn’t sound too promising! More tiredness and problems to come? my native pluto is in 12th house.
many thanks……
PS pluto will be transiting in my 3rd house.
Hi Radiantwoman
I am just starting my Pluto Square Pluto, I was wondering what it can mean for me, I am also going to have my Jupiter return in a few months and my Jupiter is in Aries almost on my M.C. My Pluto is in the third house. My birthday is April 26, 1975 11:04 am, my rising sign is Leo.
Thanks for your help + Blessings

[...] “In general this planet is also called the great transformer. Or the shadow part of you. It is a symbol for many different things. It breaks down structures, removes the old to make room for the new. It could entail drastic changes, inner turmoil, anything to do with dreams, fears, or leftovers from our past…It could be an intense time where emotions get out that you have not noticed before. It is a time to reconnect with your inner being, the not so visible you, the you that is not so much in the mind but in the unconscious part of you.” (http://radiantwoman.wordpress.com) [...]
Hi I am going through my pluto square pluto. Natally it is in libra in my 11th house and it’s squaring pluto in capricorn in my second house. I don’t know what i am doing! i completly sabataged my relationship for 3yrs and did it shockingly I feel fine about it after but What i mean is everything i thought and was holding in came out. I couldnt control it. Talk about your subconcious mind taking over and you just know it. i just knew he wasnt right for me. I definitly feel like a much more authentic person. Like i want what i want. However i am ruffling feathers on the way. I just hope it’s all for the best!
What a great website! Found it looking for more info on pluto square pluto.
My natal pluto is in the 4th house and soon the transit pluto from the 6th house will be making a square. What to expect? Am tired of changes (born on 6th of May 1976, bosnia).
Radiant Woman, being born on 29 04 76 debno poland 7.09am i am waiting for the pluto square transit coming soon, I ‘m actually anticipating it with happiness as i want changes yet love comfort as a 11/12house taurus, I think the ride is full of upheavals with uranus in aries now and somehow gracefully safe with pluto sextiling my conjunct sun/moon/venus? I’ve been without relationship since 2005 with my 4 yr old daughter and having fun, recognizing more of me, her, us, getting lost in who i am , not having Enough fun and creativity I say! even with a bare 10th and full 11th, I run away from the saturnian influences still quite a bit; with natal pluto in 5th what could i expect of the square with 7th house pluto in capricorn this year?
(Birth: February 25 1975, Yakima, Washington–USA 4:36 p.m.)
Please bear with this long post, as I am pregnant and have been experiencing one square after another in my life, and my brain feels sapped.
I feel as though I’ve been pummeled by Saturn and Pluto over the past few years.
After my Saturn return around 2005, Saturn went through my rising sign of Leo and my first house, and then opposed my Pisces sun.
That was a difficult time for me, as Pluto square Venus was happening at around the same time.
Pluto squaring Venus brought a lot of upheaval in my love life, but I met my current husband at that time and have been able to move out of abusive relationships into a relationship that is very loving.
I developed a severe anxiety disorder in 2005, and have been on a high dose of medication for that up until September, when I found out that I was pregnant. I had to stop the anxiety medication, and I am practically agoraphobic at this point. Without my husband it is difficult for me to leave the house.
Now, as Saturn moves away from my natal Venus, it squares my natal Saturn, and Pluto is beginning to square my natal Pluto.
Additionally, as Saturn finally moves away from my natal Saturn, it will square my Mars, Mars will square my natal Mars, and eventually Pluto will square my natal Saturn as well.
Not to mention the eventual squaring of Pluto to my natal Mars in a few years, after everything else.
I am ready to have a baby any day, my only living child. I am due in a little over two weeks.
I moved a year ago with my husband from a city that I loved very much to a small mountain town that I am not very happy with. It takes about three hours to drive into the city, and I feel very alienated and isolated here.
I had a very unhappy childhood/adolescence in a small town not far from where we now live, and I find that I am constantly reliving the trauma of that life in my mind and heart, and it’s difficult for me to make a distinction between my past experiences and my present reality.
I have been going to therapy, and have been diagnosed with PTSD due to repeated emotional abuse from my parental figures, and subsequent physical/emotional abuse in past relationships.
I went to work for a few months (I was a workaholic before we moved here), but I couldn’t deal with the way the place I worked was being ran, and I quit.
I now have nothing to distract me from myself.
No friends (I’ve cut a lot of friends out of my life, as I realize that there wasn’t much to the friendships), and very little contact with my family (I grew up in a dysfunctional environment, and I find myself increasingly disgusted with my family and childhood friends, as they are not genuinely supportive or caring in my life).
I would love some feedback on what I might expect from all these squares that are coming and going from my life.
Sorry for the long (and what I can only assume is mildly confusing) post.
Oops, I’ve been reading about these transits for the past few days, and there is so much going on that I get a little bit confused.
“Now, as Saturn moves away from my natal Venus, it squares my natal Saturn, and Pluto is beginning to square my natal Pluto.”
That’s not particularly accurate, sorry about the mix-up!
Violets, it sounds like you are being given an opportunity to finally work through and release the old patterning and trauma from your life up until now–getting in touch with the true you–as grueling as it may feel. Have you ever heard of Somatic Experiencing? It addresses PTSD (anxiety, depression, etc) with emphasis on releasing stored trauma from the body. Peter Levine is the person that articulated this approach. He has several books in print. It can be a challenge to not rack up a “story” of all the stressful things happening to us and feel victimized by them. I was born in 1974 and have had these transits as well and no it hasn’t been an “easy” time but when I reflect on what has come from the difficult situations I can see how they are creating lasting beneficial changes. It allows me to release the dis-empowered voice in my story too! Remember this is YOUR life and you are empowered to choose how you RESPOND to it. Pluto transforms–expect things to look, feel (sometimes dramatically) different. Saturn can be stern in approach keeping us focused on the lesson at hand, whether we want to look at it or not. Try to visualize what it is you’d like to release and embrace in your life and then take a deep breath and let go in trust. It’s a practice. You’ve got that 8th house Pisces sun, allow that to guide you through the depths of your experience. It looks like Jupiter is on its way to bring in some optimism and expansion–hooray! Many blessings to you and your child!
Hello RW
I looking for some help…and than I found your site..
I have Pluto square Pluto and do not know how to handle this anymore …….
I am not sure is this ok if I leave here my date of birth, because I do not know precisely where is my Pluto
except my natal Pluto is in 8 house ……all that I know …
but I hope that you read this my post and tell me if is possible that I send you my date of birth and that you give me some answer
I am sorry for my bed language
I am from Belgrade…
ana
I just send you an email on your private mail address.
Dear ana,
I looked at your chart. Your Pluto at birth is in the sign of Libra, 8th house. It is now in your twelfth house in Capricorn and after that it will move over your Ascendant to move into the first house. This is a process of years and indeed in a symbolical sense an important time in your life.
I do understand your fear, the unknown can seem like a dark place to arrive into since you do not know what is hidden in the dark.
The good thing here is that Pluto in this position will bring an awareness into you. It will come slowly and surely and will gently guide you into a deeper understanding of who you are and how to be safe within yourself first. It is a time to nurture yourself, take time to relax and feel your emotions rise up inside of yourself. If you find it very hard, try techniques as meditation or a yoga like Bikram yoga. Try to find ways to feel yourself and the spirit that lives within you and wants to come out in the near future.
It is alright to be afraid. It is understandable to be afraid also and for you in particular Pluto will feel like it wants to throw you off balance. Always remember that this is a good thing and never intended to hurt you. It will remove things that are no longer needed in your life and it will make these more urgent for you, to realise it and then slowly take steps to change it. Take care of you ana, and light a candle to see more in the dark.
Radiantwoman – thank you for this site. This helped me a lot when I was going through my own pluto square in the fall of 2009 ( born on 29/29/71 in Ohio).
A dear friend is going through significant tumult. She was born 21/11/70 in Toronto Canada. Is there any way I can calculate when (or if) her pluto square will occur (or did occur)? I’m trying to offer her a useful context for her challenges.
thanks
Yes you can, visit astro.com and fill in all your details there. You can also get free info about the horoscope in general. If she needs more info, just leave a message here and I will answer. It might take a while though…
If she does not want to share her private details then we can work out something else.
Thank you for your articles and your wisdom. I am doing my best to view Pluto as a positive transformational planet, but it gets me *down*. I don’t know when this square started, as I have a challenging natal chart anyway. My birth information is:
11/11/1971 1:10am Wichita, Kansas.
I’ve not been myself for quite a few months. Lately we’ve had these eclipses which seem pretty nasty to me. I’ve probably got all of these transits/aspects tied into a large knot. I have no idea where to begin. Would you be able to help me at least figure out the Pluto squre I’m enduring? Maybe that will help unravel my issues. Thank you in advance for your help.
I actually didn’t mind getting raped and brutally beaten during my Pluto square moon transit. I don’t mind the karmic junk that I came in contact with during my (ongoing) Pluto square nodes transit. I couldn’t care less about Uranus on my natal Moon, right now, and don’t mind Saturn opposing my Sun and conjuncting Pluto in my 4th house as we speak while Lilith conjuncts my Sun squaring my natal Lilith on my Asc. But, as Pluto is approaching the square with Pluto in the near future, conjunct my dsc, opposing Lilith, most probably “reinforced” by transiting Saturn, I just know I won’t survive that one. I have some stupid calcified brain tumor over my left eye, benign, they say, never worked a day in my life, although I have 2 MS and am halfway through my doctorate. I wrote a couple of books, built a recording studio, but never saw a dime. EVERYTHING dissolves around me. My parents support me, otherwise I would be on the street by now. One of my best friends who helped a lot with the studio killed himself a year and a half ago. He was 40 and couldn’t stand his Uranus opposition. It was too much for him.
I don’t want to and am NEVER going to kill myself. I just want to leave this world and this incarnation. It is not too much to bare, it is simply too much of nothing.
Ok God, I was a bad person in a previous life, I GET IT! Now let me get off this ride to the next one, I promise I’ll be a good boy…
Hi, My husband has Pluto square Pluto from mid Nov. ’11 until mid Nov. ’12 I found out he was cheating and now will be going through a divorce. He was born July 25 ’75. Everything came collapsing like your experience. No warning and he was out.. He is also experiencing up and downs with jobs. Do you see him going back eventually, or forgetting the past. Thanks Eva
How do I find out if Pluto is in my life?? I have a feeling it is as I am Capricorn and my life has spiralled out of control since November 2009, I don’t feel in control and I have lost so much!!
Help I need advice, where do I go? What do I do?
In the meantime I will continue to read all these comments to get some enlightenment.
Dear Radiant Woman,
Love your comments and feedback. I was hoping you could give me some insight.
My birth details are as follows: December 7, 1974 in London, Ontario at 8:11 a.m.
I have natal Pluto at 8 degrees Libra in the 9th house and transiting Pluto at 8 degrees Capricorn in my first house. To date, I gave birth to my only child a year ago and as I was about to return to work from my maternity leave, I was fired due to “lack of work”. I am concerned because I am the bread winner in my family. I am a lawyer with years of experience, yet I am not getting hired despite my job search efforts. While money is not an issue at this morment, it will be soon.
Can you please tell me what my current Pluto square Pluto will effect in my life given its placement, natally and by transit?
Thank you so much and Happy New Year.
Hello Radiant Woman,
Pluto square pluto has just begun- the end of jan 2012. I have natal pluto 9 degrees libra in the 10th house. Transit pluto is is the second house 8 degrees capricorn. I’ve been in the same job for 3yrs now and am bored to tears. I want to be challenged more, but where I am now there is no where for me to do that. I’ve had so many different jobs thus far and this current job is the longest I’ve ever stayed in the same position.
What types of changes will pluto square pluto bring to my life?
Thank-you for your comments,
Sagmoon

I am a Taurus sun, Capricorn Rising, and Sagi Moon. I have Pluto at 19 degrees Libra and for Pluto to square my natal Pluto I believe it needs to be at 19 degrees Capricorn which is coming. Pluto has been around my Ascendent recently and is going to retrograde soon to go back near my Ascendent. It has been a total nightmare since Pluto has entered Capricorn near my Ascendent. So many terrible things have been happening. Will it get worse when Pluto square Pluto? I will say that I am learning a lot from these experiences and I am much more mentally stronger than I was before, but I really need a break. I will take it but I need a break for now. I want to get to start a family and I just got married. I hope nothing gets in the way of a happy and peaceful life with making a family with my husband. Please advise!
“…has there own particular experiences.” Should read, “…their…”
yes, thank you. There will probably be many more, English is not my native language, trying to provide something nice. Still: thanks!

Hi Ana,
I just sent you an email. Pluto is still in your 12th house and not yet to worry about jobs or maybe not at all
miriam
Hi Miriam,
I have this transit coming up for me in 2013. My info: 12/11/75 2:01am Park Ridge Illinois. Pluto is in Libra in my 12th house. Pluto and Saturn transits cause me to tense up because I’ve had to deal with a lot of their energy throughout my life and it was very challenging. I just want to use this transit in the best way possible and not sabotage myself or my life.
Thank you very kindly!
Mary
Hi Miriam,
My natal Sun conjunct Pluto in Libra in the 5th house is square transiting Pluto in Capricorn in the 8th house. Pluto square Pluto is tough enough, add my natal sun to that! I am experiencing a lot of changes in my career and in my love life. I feel a lot of anger and frustration towards my love life. Although deep inside I know this break-up is good for me, I can’t help but feel negatively attached to him. I am also getting paranoid about business but the relationship area is more hurtful at present. I would like to be clarified, with your help, about the things I should be expecting and focusing on right now. I am worried and been consulting astrologers and tarot readers a lot. I do tarot myself, to simplify the readings, I do one card readings. Is this going to help or make matters worst? I get so anxious because I want to be reborn ASAP and feel renewed now. What issues should I face head on to make this journey enlightening and pleasant? Whenever I read about pluto transits especially hard aspects on the sun and natal pluto, I get paranoid. Your notes offer fresh approaches and I would appreciate your take on my case. Thank you so much
Here you are again, did not see that yet. As I do not have your date of birth I will write about what I gather from the above.
First relax. Yes I know that is the hardest thing to do. Take it one day at a time and let things unfold as they are good for you. In my personal experience doing readings on myself often did not work very well. It is a little bit as if you are planting a seed and opening the earth every time to see how the seed is doing! Make a fixed time to do a reading, say once every week, and then move on. If you keep worrying about life that is not much fun. Try and be in nature, take walks early in the morning, hug a tree, reconnect to mother earth. The spiritual life is a beautiful thing and we are still here in human bodies. Pluto transits are nothing to be scared about, that is the main point for me to have this post still going and still answering after 5 years. Pluto is a natural thing and belongs to life, to be reborn some things of you (not in a literal sense) will die first. Life will take care of that and in the meantime you try to hold on to the things life is throwing at you. It is hard sometimes to see the good things happening to you. Become aware of all the little good things that happen in life, write them down at night and keep the good things close to your heart. Know that you are never alone, I will at least be with you in words… Take care RW
Thank so much Ma’am RW for your reply, this means a lot to me, my date of birth is oct 3, 1976 in Quezon city, Philippines. If there are things i need to watch out for, please do tell. Many thanks again from my heart.
