My thoughts on how to recognize the road in life we are to take.
– Stop and stand still
To recognize the path and to feel whether this is the road you want to continue walking on. Experience from the past informs you about what worked. This helps to decide or recognize the road in front of you and which one of many roads you could best take. I have been self-employed for 9 years now. Beautiful time. I feel it is time to make a move. Now I found a job and yes it pays the bills, but I lost my smiles and energy today. I feel dull and dead and realized today that I forgot to think about where I wanted to go.
– Look fear in the eye
See what is stopping you today to move on with what feels right. Your soul will guide you in the right direction only if you allow it to do so. And that is the catch here: your fear and worry are stopping you to make the next move.
The fear to speak about what I do for a living and the reaction of other people is stopping me. I am good at what I do, I love it and then I do not talk about it with ease. Still slightly afraid of reactions. Only talking about it when it is safe enough. I also forget to put a worth on myself. Working in a regular job is keeping me from doing the work that I love the most.
– Use the experiences from the past
What went well on the paths that you walked and where did you take a detour? Or are you spending time on the same roundabout? Also the ‘bad’ things happening did shape you into who you have become.
In the past I worked in regular jobs and I was not happy. Being self employed gave me my energy. People have sometimes avoided me after the first couple of conversations. I can see that I took that personal and did lots of soul searching about what was wrong with me. I know that nothing is wrong with me, I only listen to a different drummer and I have become pretty good at listening and acting on it. I grew because of the comments of others. I can thank them for what they made me look at.
My soul is guiding me where I need to go. I know I can listen again. Just for today, no need to worry about the road of tomorrow. Cheers.
